Kings of War

Post by More Dakka » Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:31 pm

Hey all,

Not sure if there's already a topic on this, looked around this forum and didn't see one so here goes:

Mantic is producing a set of rules for their mini line, which will have a 2 army boxed set available in October I believe:

http://www.beastsofwar.com/kings-of-war ... ouncement/

It's being designed that did 5th ed 40K:

Looks interesting. I'm on the fence with their minis, I really like their undead and the prospect of an inexpensive Dwarf army.

Just thought I'd share :)

their models are at leat GW standard, and about 3/4 the price.

If I do start fantasy, it will be with Mantic Models!

They seem a lot cheaper than GW's prices actually, I'd have to do the math but I think it's about 1/2 price.

The undead look amazing. Much better than the GW stuff imo. The dwarves are hit and miss. I really like 90% of the models, but their beards are wak.

What I might do is build up the WoC army my friend gave me, then buy the Kings of War box, or 2 or 3 of them when they come out, since they're undead and dwarfs as well as the 8th ed rule book, then I have 3 armies and 2 games to play them with :)

It would be nice if MWG would sell KoW models soon. I would love to buy them from MWG site.

Rules designed by the same guy who designed the rules for 7th edition Fantasy and 5th edition 40K, both games I'm really not a fan of so that there alone makes this pretty much a pass for me.

I've heard it's 7th ED with a few minor changes, but those changes make it excellent.

Anyways, the models are scaled for WFB so you can use them for either. If you like the models that is.

I like the Undead quite a bit, never been a fan of Dwarves of any kind so never even bothered looking at those, absolutely hate the Elves.

BoLS has a pic of the Dwarves painted up any they look way better than the box shot ones on Mantic's sight.

They're kinda weird though, you can equip them with 2H weapons but some of the models have shields built on to the torso...

I played a game of the beta release and I have to say I wasn't impressed. maybe I was doing it wrong but some of the mechanics just didn't make sense.
