Hi,
So, what do you get when you buy the AoBR set ? Right, two armies to work on. So here is my Space Marine WIP.
Here is where I am right now. I painted the first 5 marines from the AoBR paint set in Ultramarine 2nd company colours. However, I do not really like gold, so for the AoBR guys I decided to paint them in 4th company colours.
Enough talk, here are the photos:
Three out of Five in 2nd Company colours. I consider these finished.
Over there, he's in charge.
Three coats of thinned blue paint, 3 coats of thinned green.

Paint job is nice, but why Ultramarines
Don't know . I started this hobby back in january with the Assault on Black Reach paint set. The set basically holds enough paint to paint Ultramarines. When I got my AoBR I just continued with the blue. I do not like the gold colour, bought the Space Marine Codex colour and from there decided on Ultramarines 4th company for the new models.
Then I bought the foundation paint set and some extra paints, including Ultramarine blue, and found out the blue I used is not even Ultramarine blue but Moridian blue foundation paint. I like the Moridian blue better than the Ultramarine blue, so now I am really in doubt. I already started a little experiment on my terminators:
And am now considering to go for a "new" colour scheme using the Moridian Blue as primary colour and the green as the second primary colour. Have not figured out where to go from there so switched back to my Orks.
Does anyone have an idea what might work with Moridian Blue / Goblin green ?

Update July 20 2009
I decided to go for Crimson Fists. Here are a couple of models to show my progress (Slow and Purposefull). All Terminators now have blue faces ( was working on white for Ultramarines), all hands have been painted red and I started highlighting the armour edges. I still have a long way to go. Am I going in the right direction ?

Ohh very nice, I'd do the khornate thing and post a picture of borat but I won't
But really though nice work man, I was going to do crimson fists but stuck with my ultramarines. I like the vibrant highlights as they fit the armor of the crimson fists very well, keep up the good work.

The two on the left have an Ice Blue edge highlight. The three on the right only an Ultramarine Blue edge highlight. Pictures are taken without camera flash. I used a fairly bright spotlight. Makes the armour look more like it does in reality

Hello there,
Update Januari 17 2010. I'm slowly making progress on my Crimson Fists. Here are the Scouts, Tactical squad and Assault squad from the Battleforce. I do not think they are finished, but look good enough to play a game with.

Ultra marines look good, but there's a soft spot in my heart for the crimson fists, as it was my first 40k army ( that i stupidly sold...had over 4000 points worth all tricked out with the metal fist shoulder pads, even had the special chaplain and librarian pads) anyways, the fists look fantastic!, thanks for the advice on my question too, good luck!
