I've been painting my dark vengeance minis the past few days and I figured I should start a WIP to see what you all think. I'm using the original Emperor's Children color scheme for the Chaos models. I might make them my own chapter since they don't use that color scheme anymore, or just consider them as Emperor's Children. Either way they're slaaneshi CSM. I've just started assembling the Dark Angels models but probably won't get to them until after the rest of the Chaos models are painted, they are just too much fun to paint.
Sorry the pics aren't that great, the only camera I have is on my psvita. Also in case you're wondering, I don't use citadel paints, all my paints are cheap acrylics from the craft store, I find it more cost effective considering its 1/4 the price. I know the end product isn't as smooth as citadel paints give, but I prefer a grittier looking model anyways.
Here's the first batch, I've only painted 2 minis thus far, the Chaos Lord and the Chaos Chosen with Power Maul, enjoy

Yeah, I tried to make the white look worn and aged, it turned into a grainy drab white color. I'm ok with it, but I wish I could have done better.

I was using Grey to shade to try and avoid the dirty look. I might toy with it after i'm done painting everything. Its tabletop standard for right now.

Thanks I really try and put a lot of effort into each mini. I actually get emotionally attached to them lol. My Blood Angels are sloppier because I just wanted to get them on the table, but I'm putting extreme care into my CSM, cause I want to start them next and I want them to look really nice. Besides, CSM are more fun to paint than most Space Marine Chapters, save for Space Wolves.

I am finding that my Guardians of the Covenant are fun to paint, mainly cuz they are pretty simple but can be challenging to keep neat and tighty

After painting 20 assault marines the same exact way, painting 10 tactical marines the exact same way, and a couple vehicles, it was getting old lol. I really like these chaos models just because of how much variety there is. And the amount of detail is amazing, if it wasn't for these models, i wouldn't be interested in playing CSM at all. Later on I'm going to do some conversions to make a slaanesh equivalent for khorne berserkers (slaaneshi dancers), and plague marines (excess marines), thanks to the ideas of Dr.Bored.

i suggest using dark eldar parts for those dancers, like the scourge legs with wych parts, ull get a real dynamic look

I love the colour scheme! Although I'm very partial to purple, what little 40k stuff I have is pretty much all painted purple. But keep up the good work!

Sorry for the late upload. I've been very busy the past few days and though I did a lot of painting, I didn't take the time to take some pics. So this update is going to be a BIG one. Also, I've got some things I want to discuss for future ideas.
First up, the remaining chaos cultists!
Here's a full group shot, if you notice there is 1 extra bolter chosen included from an extra troop sprue I got.
And now for my Hellbrute:
Here's the first cultist I painted. Why so serious?
And here's the old AoBR termies painted up as Deathwing. I freehanded the deathwing symbols the best I could.
That's all the pics for today. Now There's a couple of things I want to discuss. 1. I want my Chaos Space Marines to be a separate warband from the Emperor's Children, but kinda like a successor chapter, since the EC don't use that color scheme anymore. I was thinking about calling them the Sons of the Phoenix or something along those lines. Have any suggestions for the name and symbol? 2. I'm making a cult of Slaanesh that glorifies it by mocking the Laughing God, hence the clown paint on the cultist's face. What should I call them? 3. I'm not sure how to paint the Dark Angels. I'm thinking maybe using just the basic color scheme, cause I don't really like the rest of their subchapter schemes, but I'm open to suggestions. How do you think I should paint them? (Deathwing and Ravenwing will be staying as the normal color scheme.)

Looks really good man, I like what u are doing with all these new models. I like the name Sons of the Phoenix, since the standard symbol for EC is the wing, so a fiery wing symbol matched with a good amount of flamers in the army should be pretty awesome. the imperial cult should be along the lines of the harlequins, since they are clownish and since eldar are the creators of slaanesh. and when it comes to dark angels, if u arent going to change the colors of the deathwing and ravenwing, u might want to just do a standard scheme or one of the less odd ones, like maybe the sons of caliban, dark green and black.

Thanks, I think I'll just stick with normal Dark Angels color scheme then. I did another 3 cultists today, there will be pics tomorrow. Tomorrow I might switch to painting some of the DA, the cultists are starting to bore me a bit. As for the Sons of the Phoenix, I think I'm going to stay away from a lot of flames, just giving them a flaming wing, or maybe a burning aquilla as their symbol. I actually thought up that name because of Fulgrim's nickname.
