sorry about lack of update , ive been having more laptop problems, and now im back at uni so cant do anything for updates. However, i finish the academic year in a few weeks, so when i get home i will try my hardest to get back on track with the updating
The net few updates will be vietnam based as that is the project i will be focusing on
sorry to hear, (no offense but) i also i find it ... (i think its ironic but it might be a different word) that your user name is Kor'sarro-Khan (a white scars captain) and your painting Ultramarines

wow i havent updated this for a while, but uni is over now (well until september anyway), so i have more time available for my hobby (yay)
so what do i have for you today? well, ive finally got some pics of my vietnam stuff that arrived around easter, i know the pics wont show much, but there is actually 5000 points of army (for both USA and NVA), and only for a total cost of less than £100 (approx $153 USD), and that price is inlcuding the rulebook, the bases and the small amount of stuff i already had.
I also have Marneus Calgar and his honour guard making an appearance. I had always wanted the set, and with a very slowly building ultramarines army building in the background, and with the price rise about to happen, i though it was the best time to get them. Got to be honest, it as the worst quality finecast set i had bought so far, a far amount of work was needed (although fortunately not an especially high skill requirement as needed, it just mainly involved covering up gaps etc, and diving into my bitz bag for replacement pieces, those with the set may notice them in the pics). but othwise they are fantastic sculpts and i really cannot wait to field them.
So, lets start with visiting 'nam, (before we start i apologize for the poor pic quality, i've gotton a bit out of practise, and just wanted to get an update up ASAP).
so first off is everything ive have ordered for vietnam, shown in the picture is just under 10,000 points of stuff, and a load of 20x30mm bases from renedra.
i know it doesnt actually look like that much, but may i remind you it is 3mm scale, now i have a slight problem with basing them, in the fact that ive lost the army list ive made for them, whilst ie been able to recover some of it, it could take a while to finish basing them.
I have been able to base one of the artillery groups though at the top is the forward artillery observer, represented by a M113, on the left is a scout unit, represented by a jeep and some infantry, and the other six bases are 155mm howitzers, overall this unit is worth 640pts
and next is a size comparison, a heroic scale 28mm space marine, agaisnt a 3mm vietnam scout unit
so now we'll head to the 41st millenium, and to Marneus Calgar and his honour guard, as i said they are brilliant looking minis and i cannot wait to get them painted and use them in a game.
with the champion above, im having a bit of a dilema, you may notice that the head crest thing, has a tail, and im wondering how to paint it, should i leave it white, or follow the pattern that ive done on the main bit?
well i hope you guys like the pics, plesae leave your comments etc. Again im sorry for the poor image quality, whenits time to postt eh finished models, i'll be sure to make the picture qualities good. My next update will probably be once ive either finished basing the vietnam models, or i finish painting the ultramarines, whichever comes first.

Something like this?.
I gotta say, that champion called my attention, especially because of the head. The other minis are insanely small, how do you paint them?.

the 3mm ones are actually incredibly easy to paint
stage 1: base coat
stage 2 : drybrush a much lighter shade of the basecoat
stage 3: add detail using fine brush
and then its just the basing which is simple. They barely take up any time at all to paint, could get the whole lot done in less than a few hours if i really wanted too
thanks for the pic, im gonna do the same on my champion

I see, and also they don't take a lot of space in the base lol.
BTW, is that champion holding a powered sword?.

Ok update time
Vietnam project is on hold, ive lost enthusiasm for the project at the moment, mainly due to the fact that ive lost the army lists i had made, meaning i cannot remember the platoon organizations etc. Most of it is based, but i just need to redo the ary lists
Have started Dystopian wars, i went with Kingdom of Brittania, because i love the tanks, everything i have so far is painted.
Calgar and Honour Guard are completed. Love the Calgar, Standard Bearer and Champion minis, not too keen on the other two honour guard, but overall am very pleased with the outcome. Also bought a stormtalon, got to say, pictures do not do the model justice, when you actually see the model for real, it does look a lot better than the pictures on the GW website or in white dwarf. I did damage the canopy, so i need to get a new one, i watching a few websites at the moment waiting for one to appear
briefly returned to orks, as i managed to find another AOBR warboss to replace my old one (which met an unfortunate end with some cellulose thinner , fortunately he needed replaceing anyway as i hated his paitn job)
I have returned to my tyranids. So far on teh completed list are the hive tyrant and carnifex (with all weapon options magnetized and painted), 10 gargoyles, 3 ripper swarms and 3 warriors. I want to get the new hive tyrant kit. I am thinking of making it with the flyrants body but normal legs, then magnetizing everything else, so when i dont use the wings, the tyrant will look like it is jumping into battle.
i have set myself a challenge for the week. All that is left of my tyranids are 16 hormagaunts, 16 termagaunts and 16 genestealers. All have been basecoated, the termagaunts need a wash, and 8 of the genestealer need weapon replacements. However my goal is to finish painting them by the end of the week. Whilst i dont expect to reach the goal, it is to movtivate me to finish what is left of the army, (until i buy more).
So that is the update, not promising anything but hope to have pictures up tomorrow of ultramarines, tyranids and the ork warboss, as well as my dystopian wars stuff.
Edit: goal update epically failed, but only because it was my birthday and i got a load of new dystopian wars ships which gained my attention, also apologies for the picture delay, couldnt find my camera, is found now, taking pictures today hope to upload soon

so here are the pictures from my latest projects, we'll start with 40k.
Wanted to replace my ork warboss as the last one met an unfortunate end with some cellulose thinner, managed to find the AoBR one in a shop which was selling the old starter set in separate bits, would have loved to get the dreadnought but they only had the ork stuff left.
Also finished GW's finecast Marneus Calgar and Honur Guard set, had a few problems with some small bits, i had a few bitz that i used to make some conversions, people who have the same set will be able to spot them, the things i had to replace were Calgars backpack symbol, chapter champions combat blade into a boltgun (although i was going to do that anyway) and the two bolguns on the generic honour guard.
also got a stormtalon. Love the model. Stormtalons look so much better in real life than they do in pictures. My one doesnt have a canopy as it got slightly trashed . i havent glued the skyhammer missiles on so i can switch between different weapons options
Got some work done on my tyranids, although admittedly not as much as i would have liked to have done, but hey progress is progress. Love the tyranid warriors, although at the price they are now i dont think i will be getting any more anytime soon. Havent done any basing on tyranids yet, i want to finish the whole army before i decide on how to base them.
And now to the project that has grabbed my attention over the last few weeks. Dystopian Wars from Spartan Games. Havent played any games yet, but just from the look of the models and a brief look at the rulebook i have a feeling that this will rapidly become my favourite game. The rules are designed to enable naval, land and air units in one game, and they look simple and yet detailed, and its the same with the models, unlike most minis where lots of detail requires lots of paint skill, with dystopian wars, even with incredibly detailed models the most simplist paint jobs can make every aspect stand out. I am having an anormous amount of fun painting these models and i cant wait to start playing. Just got to wait for the guys down the club to finish painting their armoured battlegroups. The army i have gone with is Kingdom of Brittania
armoured battlegroup Terrier Class small tank MKII class tank Cromwell Class Bombard Sovereign Class Landsip Eagle Class War rotor Doncaster Bomber Vandguard Class submarine (surfaced and submerged) Merchant Navy Olympic Class Troop Ship (these models are available to all factions in dystopian wars)
and the following pictures are the Dystopian wars naval stuff yet to be finished
Avenger Class fleet carrier Majesty Class Dreadnought Ruler Class Battleship Bastion Class Escorts Hawk Class War rotor
so that is my work so far this summer. Will be going back to uni in september so im wondering what im going to be taking with me to work on/ use to play at my local gaming store (which i love going to...and its not a GW). It will probably be tyranids and ultramarines (which i want to get some imperial guard for for the new rules) Also may end up starting a new project or two as well. But ill have to wait and see
As usual comments and questions are welcome. Thanks for reading.
