.gif avatars.

So I wanted to use a nice christmas themed .gif avatar but when I went to put upload it I found out the file size is too big. It's a shame because it's a nice avatar too. I've noticed on another forum I use that you can take your avatars from other sites (photobucket,imgur etc.) but I can't see any option on here. Is there a particular reason for this?

Also Image signatures, are they a thing on this forum? I just want to use a simple one like I am on another forum which looks like this:

-Image signatures aren't a thing on this forum. (Something I'm rather glad of)

-Decrease your gif size in an editing program or find another, by increasing the file size it increases the everyones download hence why there is a limit. Regardless of whether you could host a picture through photobucket, flicker, ect. you'd still need it to be a limited file size. In my opinion, it ain't broke so why fix it.
