2: i would go to the shop to see how the local environment is. play a few games with the people there to get a feel for what exactly and who you may be playing against. Just a little pick up game to mess around. nothing serious and let them know your a little new. most of the time people will love to get another gamer into the environment. go the tournament or whatever and play by the rules to the best of your knowledge. No one likes a cheater BUT REMEMBER above all its just a game and your there to have fun. so if you lose at least your playing a game you love and you may have made a friend in your opponent. the same goes for the reverse scenario. if your winning or won be humble the dice gods favored you!
