I have been officially challenged at my local gaming store this Wed to a game, 1,000 points vs Grey Knights. I know he tailored his list to Nids and I was hoping to return the favor. I am somewhat limited on models/units however. His list looks something like this (it may not be 100% accurate or spelled properly, apologies):
Coeteze w/ Inquisitor squad in Rhino
8 (I think) man termies with various weapons of Hals, Hammers and a banner
Vindicare Assassin
The Heavy Support troops (forgot name) in a Razor w/ Heavy Bolter
Now, I have a Tyrant, but after playing with his points I decided he was way to pricy to bring, plus I have no guard models to take with him yet. So I am going with:
HQ: Prime w/ scything, boneswords, adrenal glands .......100pts
Trygon .........200pts .........1000pts on the money!
I also have a 3rd Hive Guard, 16 Genestealers, Broodlord and a Mawloc. Am I ready to face the GK or are the Dice Gods going to need a sacrifice for good favor?

I dunno about the tervigons, they'd be pretty easy to kill with the termies if they have a banner :/
and you gotta be careful were you place the doom cause of corteaz's "I've been expecting you" (free shot at pod AND doom), and be sure to note, that the vindicare's shield breaker WILL NOT get ride of his invul.
basically, I say throw gaunts at the termies, doom vs corteaz & crew (possibly the purgation squad too [hvy slot marines]) then try trygon and hive gaurd vs vindicare... also I say give the prime a lash whip, even with their halberds they'll be I3
just one thing as a GK too, maybe drop a tervigon for some genestealers or hormagaunts...

if he wanted a real challenge with grey knights he would of made a list to fight against all armies..
tailoring is really really not fair....
Nids have a hard time beating nids as it is..
try Prime with bonesword + lash whip
warrior squad with bone swords + lash whips
gants... lots and lots of gants and gargoyles and horms

no, you dont want warriors, cause if they face a GK squad and they activate their force weapons ALL wounds they cause are instant death.... so they only need 1 wound per guy

Tyranids are good against GK, try to avoud any nidzilla and max out your troops, plus with any MC'S get lashes and boneswords. Try to get as many models on the table as possible .....

warriors with lash whips reducing their initiative to 1/3 (if halberds) and bone swords to ignore their armour
key against grey knights is to go first and to kill as many off before they can strike back.. piling 2 or more units with lots of attacks or ignoring armour is good
keep piling in and annhiulate his units one at a time

Like I said in my original post, my models are limited. I do not have 17 Hormies, let alone 2 squads of 17 hormies. Nor do I have a usable squad of Warriors. I also only have 3 total Hive Guard.
I am going to probably drop one of the Tervigons and Gant squad to make room for a 11 Genestealer squad w/ Broodlord.

You poor soul.

Really?
A GK player felt it necessary to tailor his army... against nids.

Hmm, I'd be a little surprised if he brought Coteaz and just one unit of henchmen.
The Vindicare is an odd choice.
Anyway, I've annotated in red my thoughts on your army:

I'd suggest lash whip and bonesword, and possibly toxin sacs (since AG won't be necessary). This should be one of your answers to his terminators. As it stands, you need to charge him just to strike at the same time as his halberds (definatly not a good thing), and after that, he's striking first.
Elite: Hive Guard x2 .........100pts
Hmm, I'd really want 2 of these squads - otherwise you can only take out one of his transports each turn. At the very least, I'd definatly add your remaining Hive Guard as a separate squad.
Doom of Malan'tai w/ Spore Pod ...........130pts
Whilst normally good against GK, I'd be very wary of this. Coteaz's ability lets him and his squad shoot your pod, and then your Doom if they land anywhere near him. If his squad contains Weaponsmiths, then you could be looking at a couple of lascannon shots (which inflict instand death on the doom). The odds should still favour the Doom surviving, but it's definatly worth bearing in mind.
I'd consider swapping one of the tervigons (and a gaunt squad) for a squad of genestealers with toxin sacs, and possibly a broodlord. These would be very useful for taking out (or damaging) that terminator squad, and should shread anything else in his army.
Heavy Support:
Trygon .........200pts .........1000pts on the money!
Ideally, this should have AG, so that it strikes ahead of his non-halberd troops.
I also have a 3rd Hive Guard, 16 Genestealers, Broodlord and a Mawloc. Am I ready to face the GK or are the Dice Gods going to need a sacrifice for good favor?
You may want to get onslaught with the doom. That way he can get a run in the shooting phase. Suck some brains and then move into a position to avoid assault or suck more brains.
1) You could consider splitting the genestealer squad into 2 smaller ones - maybe 5 + broodlord in one group, and the remaining 8 in another group. It would let them go after more targets, capture/contest more objectives etc. However, it would also mean that you couldn't catalyst the entire squad - so if you're planning that you may as well keep them as a large squad.
2) Alternatively, if you drop 2 genestealers and the talons from the broodlord, you can afford to swap the mawloc for a Trygon with Adrenal Glands. I'd consider this since I find the mawloc to be an expensive one-trick pony (and his trick often doesn't work). All it takes is a bad scatter roll, and he'll be force-weapon fodder. This would also make your army 1000pts exactly.
Anyway, the above suggestions are by no means necessary - just things to consider.
Otherwise, your army seems fine, and I wish you the best of luck in your game.
