The Carnifex is beast, It's like, "hello space marine captain *Squish*" "Oh look an Iron clad dreadnaught *bump* oh look at all the pretty colours" "something seems to be stinging me *looks round* oh look 2 tactical squads of marines, hmm I sure hope my heavy venom cannon hits" "YOU THINK YOU'RE SAFE IN COVER? Go frag spines *Living battering ram* Aww your initiative is still higher than mine " "I'm really big! Shoot me!" "That right little rhino, run"
Ah yes the joys of a Carnifex.
Not all the time. Especialy agansed the space wolf lone wolf. I was like hell carnifex THUNDER HAMMER T THE FACE and it died.

Any weapon that isn't I1 or instant kills would be a better example. Or you could have pointed out that no one really takes a captain.
Then maybe it is more that a tactical squad would eventually over power your mere 4 attacks. Which models are they going to drive up to you with, the one that can be instant deathed or the ones that do not care about that?

Thunder hammers rarely go solo.
A tactical squad will NEVER over-power a Carnifex. It's statistically improbable.

Still not so much.
A 10 man Tactical Squad, each with boltgun (maybe a rocket launcher), and sarge has a botlpistol.
At 24" away, that's 8 boltgun shots and one crack missile.
Crack missile is probably going to wound the fex. The 8 boltgun shots will not. 2-3 will miss, 1 will wound, and will most likely be saved.
12" in, thats 17 boltgun shots and a crack missile.
Crack missile is probably going to wound the fex. 6 boltgun shots will miss. 2 will wound. They will probably not both fail, so he is still alive.
If it's 12" in, then the fex can assault. Space Marine Sarge gets 3 attacks. All other 9 get 1. That's 12 attacks. 6 hit. 1 wounds. Carnifex probably saves it.
Carnifex gets 4 attacks. Hits 2. Rerolls 2 and hits a third. Wounds 3. No saves, means three die.
This continues for the rest of the assault.

you missed out on plasma and power fist plus if it was my squad it would be in a rhino so squad could use fire points and once rhinos gone get rapid fire and the charge.

Plasma was missile launcher in the scenario. I gave the sarge chains word so he would attack at i4

Whats the Best tyranid army against necrons? And what is the best tyranid army in general anywhere from 1,500 points to 2,500 ish? Just started an army this month al I have so far is raveners, hive tyrant, and gene stealers. I'm switching from elder so I basically have no experience with Tyranid.

or a blobbed Imperial Guard Platoon being issued First Rank Fire, Second Rank Fire, or Bring it Down on the same carnifex.. thats 50-100 shots that re-roll misses* or 100-150 shots*.. they wound on a 6 but it will cause enough 6's to force failed saves >.<

Once you use an order on a unit, that unit immediately acts. No squad can be under the effect of two orders, ever. Sounds like someone didn't read their codex too well.

Also, tactical squads do have a good chance to kill a Carnifex. With a rhino and plasma guns, they dance rings around any slow monstrous creature.
but you also have to take into other accounts of hive guard nearby... a good tyrani player would never leave home without them
unless they don't have any of course

it is a poor tyranid player to leave his hive guard in their deployment. you must make use of that very short S8 weapon
