 Post subject: Psykers in 6th Edition

Can you mix and match some powers from a codex and some from the rulebook on one psyker?

It says for each power you purchase in a codex you can get one from the rulebook.

For example-could a zoanthrope keep its warp lance, but trade in warp blast for a random power in the rulebook? Could each zoanthrope in the brood take different powers?

What about Eldrad Ulthran? He gets 5 powers in the eldar codex but it the white dwarf it says he gets 4 from the rulebook. Could I keep 1 (aka doom) and get 3 at random?

For each power you get in the dex you can exchange it for a roll on the appropriate psychic power chart. Not sure about mixing and matching though.

yeah, there's 6 random powers and a primary power. at the beginning of each game you roll the powers and if you don't like one of them you can swap it for the primary power.

I kinda like it that way. Read all the powers and you'll see that each category has a good diverse, yet themed list, and they primary powers for each thing are pretty good. My favorites are telepathy and pyromancy.

I really like the look of biomancy. with that spell that gives +D3 S and T, now imagine that with an IG infantry blob and straken :P

That's +D3 S, T and confers EW to the Psyker itself.

Unlike Fantasy though, you are not limited to choosing a School of Psychic powers before the start of the game.

So you could roll for a Biomancy on the first spell and a Divination on the second. Man I love Divination so many good buffs :D

All in all I don't mind rolling, it means you cant get what you want each time, but you always get something useful (At very least the signature spell)

Ok guys, let's all keep ignoring Hukoseft, FAQs is just a figment of our imagination :P

But yeah the FAQs clears things up very well, and it states that Eldrad can exchange his standard powers for 4 new ones from the rules.

And I BET that the Chaos and Dark Angles Codices will add random psychic powers and let you choose on a spell by spell basis where to pick from.
