Yeah as the front cover for at least 5th and 4th edition rule books had a hammer on the front as thats the game. That cover is most likely the DA codex
the only reason I would say it is the 6th edition rule book is because it is clearly a hard back book & only fantasy books are getting hard back at the moment from what we know.

It is definately hard cover, but it doesn't say anything on it, so likely a prototype that they could use for anything. If we could see the thickness, then we could really speculate that it is a book vs codex.

must be rule book. codex has army name on it. rule books always just have the games name on it. plus from the imprint its making on that cushion id say to heavy to be a codex

My guess would be that it is most likely the early concept of the coming rulebook. Considering the only words on it is the 40K logo, and the line across the bottom, which looks like the tagline "In the grim darkness of the future there is only war."
Personally, I hope that it isn't the new rulebook. I love the covers of both the Fantasy and 40K rulebooks; they are awesome. You've got a picture of a big hammer, the logo, and the background is a scene of battle from a couple of the factions.
The background fight for the rulebook is that of Black Reach, the 5th ed. starter set. On the back cover is a bunch of Ultramarines fighting Orks. Rather than the new cover, I see this as confirmation of the Dark Angels in the starter set.

In that respect it could be it could be the background scene on the front of the book and that is the original art work that will be on the box set or in the DA codex

And here's the funny thing, edition 1-3 was covered with Space Marines
Edition 1: Crimson first Edition 2: same picture Edition 3: Black Templars
It's hardcover like the 8th Edition of fantasy and it totally looks like a book. Might be a leak of a store owner who has it in its store?
4th edition also had space marines on the front when the ultramarines are battling the tyranids. I have mixed feelings on this - but I don't really like the picture of a hammer on the front cover either from this edition.

Couldn't tell it was on a pillow. Not the greatest res on my laptop. I does make sense as a rulebook cover since marines are central to the overall story...Any idea who has lead on rewriting the rule book? That could tell a lot...just thought of my next thread...
