Ok so when I started, I was confused with a lot of the terms and abbreviations in this forum, and while I understand most of it now, it took me a while to understand. This is not against anyone who uses these terms, in fact I use them myself. But I think it would be easier for newbies if we do this. So any term or abbreviation that I don't have in this list (I'm sure I will not have a ton of them), post it in a reply below, and I will update this about every day or so.

WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get (aka if your model is showing a lasgun, he doesn't have a plasma cannon equipped). Enforced heavily in tournaments and most GW stores.
Proxy'ing - The reverse of WYSIWYG. You use markers or models to represent models you don't actually have. Only really happens in non-tournies and GW typically doesn't allow it on their tables. It's usually done to test different army configurations before buying specific units (i.e. if you want to test out a squad of scouts with sniper rifles instead of the standard bolters that your current scout models have, etc). Typically both players have to agree to allow proxy play, and usually at the start of the battle each player has to state which models are proxied and what they are/have equipped (i.e. "This unit of scouts is equipped with sniper rifles, not the bolters you see on them").
DAKKA - the sound made by ork guns, which is why you see a lot of *DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA* type emotes online, it represents orks shooting stuff.
