If the codices don't have points in I'll eat my own socks.
It is standard practice in Age of Sigmar not to include points in the Codex, as the points are included in the General's Handbook, which is intended for yearly releases. This means that any adjustments to points can be made with each GHB release, without having to rerelease or FAQ (which many players always miss) any given Codex.

Looks like I'll be starting work on a new list builder spreadsheet tomorrow then.

Someone on BoW said that he read that points values are just in back of Codex like with Index Books so your socks are safe.

I noticed this on the Warhammer Community website in an article talking about how Blood Angels and Space Wolves players can use the new Primaris units;
The rules for those new Space Marines Primaris units will all be in the box sets themselves, and matched play points will be published for free on the Warhammer Community and Games Workshop websites.

This is actually better for updating and adjusting the points as the meta evolves, although it may be that the points are in the codex as well.

Also they say that the Grey Knights codex is mere weeks away so that will be the second one to drop.

It's just more double dipping, they can dress it up however they like, but it's a very sly move. There was nothing stopping them putting points values in the codex. They can still change points values at any time they want with FAQs.

It's just another very cynical cash grab.
Agreed. If there are no points in the codices, it's just a cynical cash grab since this would force people who wisely waited for a true codex to buy the index anyway. And the yearly point changes is a poor excuse. They can do this through FAQs and did that in the past already. Also, there is a point where a codex becomes obsolete and point adjustments are just not enough. Having been stuck with the CSM 6th ed codex for so long while every other armies were getting great formations and detachment made pretty clear to me that point adjustments are just not enough to make your army viable when everybody just get totally superior toys than yours.

If this rumor is true, then I will have to buy new socks too...

wow only missed it by like a month and I'm already confused - so do you think I should wait for an ork codex? or get the Xenos index now? I think I need both as well, because Necrons are in the other iirc so I dunno. Haven't had a chance to get the new rulebook yet.

We have no current time for when to expect either the Necron or the Ork codex release. As such, if you want to play now, I'd recommend buying the index. You could easily be waiting until 2018 for all we know.

No, they said 10 codexes will be out by the end of the year, but there's a lot more factions than 10.

I think there are at least 10 Imperium factions alone; depends on what is considered a faction and what is not.

Have heard people say that the 10 releases will all be Imperium and Chaos with Xenos in the new year. Not sure if that's based on solid info. But that won't be all of Imperium and Chaos, those two factions together would definitely be more than 10 releases.
