So in between studying and work I have been plugging away at my Deathmatch submission.

I need to work on the book as the wash came out shiney!! Not sure why. Does temperature effect how washes dry as I did this in my basement which is cold.

Then I think the lightning may benefit from a lining of white to bring it up.

What do you think?

I had a similar effect with the varnish I use. It's supposed to be a matte varnish, but it came out quite glossy. I think that some kind of separation of the ingredients was the reason for this effect and I should have given the can a better shake. However, I'm not sure whether the same can happen to acrylic washes.

Just to be sure: I guess you are aware of the fact that there is a GW gloss wash series?

I'm wondering now you mention it, that maybe I didn't shake it, also i didnt thin it down either which I have started to do, even just a little bit.

I have seen the gloss versions but don't own any, I prefer a matte look to my miniatures.

I've repainted it now but I will have to be more careful.

You can also use a matte medium (like Lahmian Medium) to tone down the shine.

My washes used to do that cus I would use too much. You wanna use a tiny blob and spread it around as much as you can, till you can't really tell it's there. Keep it as thin a layer as possible, otherwise it goes shiny.
