Tenma13 Weekly Paint thread 2016

Post by Tenma13 » Sun Feb 28, 2016 2:10 pm

Hi all,

Building a Flesh tearers army atm. New to wargamming, been interested as a kid, but never got round to it.

but Just finishing of some bikes and a Rhino (Rhino was last week tbh :P).

RHINO: Used 20c 'hi my name is' stickers paper from local Warehouse store (like K mart in the states, but for office supplies) base coated black from a spray can, printed a digital camo pattern, cut out, put first layer, sprayed, second etc. Used some rust paints and dry brushing.

BIKES:

Used a air brush for BC and second layer, tried to candy coat lower portions, but put it on too thin so no joy, dry brusheded. The eye was a mistake that I thought could we turned into something cool. Really like that and is going to be a theme in my army.

Looking for pointers on how to make the bike panels more interesting as they look really flat and boring.

Welcome.

Interesting look on your Rhino, I have seen it done on Tau before but this is first time on Marines.

Look forward to see this army grow with further posts.

Love that digital camo, and the eye detail is really cool too.

You have two options. Use a red wash and go around the edges where it meets the silver trim, then use a lighter red a long the sharp edges.

Option 2. Use a red wash over the whole thing. Go back and use your red and drybrush the over the panels so that it hits the raised bits. Then use a lighter red to do the raised edges of the panels.

Using the one colour over the whole thing is what is making it look flat, you need to add depth (darker colours/wash) and then add highlights to contrast against the dark and raised from the base colour.

This same principle also applies to your marines armour such as his legs and arms.
