Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Weapons

Post by abf36 » Thu Mar 09, 2017 2:26 pm

As standard this dreadnought is equipped with two Dreadnought close combat weapons. One of it's options is the dreadspear, which is a melee weapon. The dreadspear doesn't replace one of the DCCWs so this now means it has three melee weapons. So this gives +2 Attacks right?

Unless otherwise specified, no model can receive more than +1 attacks for having more than 1 close combat weapon. Many models do, indeed get more than one, but it is usually listed in a specific special rule or weapon. More often than not, when a model can carry more than 2 weapons and benefit from extra attacks, this is actually included in the model's attacks profile.

I recall wording for one, but I don't recall where it was from "This model gets +1 attack for each X weapon (already included in its profile). Reduce this model's number of attacks by 1 for each weapon destroyed result that destroys one of these weapons." This is a good example of where more than 2 weapons nets a model more than +1 attacks.

Also, be very careful about "it doesn't replace". The wording can be tricky some times and it can be easy to miss where it might actually state that to take a certain option, it must replace an existing piece of equipment.

WALKERS AND ASSAULTS wrote:If a Walker is armed with two or more Melee weapons, it gains +1 bonus Attack for each additional weapon after the first. Unlike other models, this is not limited to a single bonus Attack, so a Walker with three Melee weapons would have 2 bonus Attacks.

If the Dreadspear doesn't replace one of the dreadnought CC weapons, you would get +2 attacks from having 3 CC weapons. Walkers have this perk. I've seen some people doing it with Defilers since they can take a third CC weapon (a Power Scourge I believe it's called).
