New forgeworld wasp assaultwalker

If it ain't human, and it ain't from the warp, then it must be Xenos.

New forgeworld wasp assaultwalker

Post by bamsefar444 » Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:37 pm

So, forgeworld has put a new model up for advance order. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4 ... ALKER.html
It is called a Wasp assaultwalker, and is basicly a war walker that has jump jets, which makes it possible for it to deepstrike and jump 24" instead of walking or shooting. It costs 10 more points than a standard war walker. it is 1-3 walkers per squad.
They also look pretty much like the normal walker, with some slight modifications to the legs (i think) and a thing on its back, as well as a more closed-in driver position.
Rules can be found here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/P ... w/Wasp.pdf

Might not sound like much, but then i discovered it is troops choices!

So, what do you guys think about it?

Love it!

EDIT: Although the more I look at it they don't look that different from a regular war walker. It would be cheaper for me (I live in the US) to get regular war walkers and mount thrusters on the back of them I have left over in my bits box.

I do like the rules for them, although somewhat surprised they don't say anything about if you are in terrain already, and also surprised they can assault after that 24" move. Troops to boot! Yes please.

I like it a lot.
It has that manevrubility war walker misses.
PLUS it's a troop choice.
AND!!!!!! easy to convert from WarWalker.
You primitives think you own the stars but you have no conception of what you are saying. You can barely command your own lumpen bodies, so how do you believe that you can subjugate entire worlds?

Yeah, very minor differences between this and the regular war walker. Rules look nice. Doubt I'll buy this from forgeworld though; I'll just convert a regular walker.

Model looks nice, rules look nice. Though, it does look a little underpriced for being able to move 24" in a turn. I think they should change that down to 12" or even make it move like it has a Jet pack and JSJ, I just think a Walker like that would be hard to move 24". If they can't even move the incredibly light Swooping Hawks that far, how did they get the huge walking vehicle to?

its to expensive money wise since its like 50$ Can for 1 and all you get is an extendede hull and a little spire on the back(and i guess the guns are slightly diffrent but not notice able).

but still you can literally have an ALL VEHICLE ARMY!!!!!... except for a hero :P

this is going to make me go and get the 3 war walker kit and convert these.

Yeah, they're pretty... well, I guess broken isn't the word, but silly at the very least.

I know, how can you make a big walker vehicle move 24" but not do the same for your Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks? The Spiders have to risk their lives and they still aren't likely to do that!

Well, they are forgeworld, so you have to have permission to field them.. I certainly hope in the new eldar codex we have an option to make war walkers troops..

Sadly for me, these costs the same as war walkers, so i might as well order them.. as well as a lot of other stuff for free shipping of course.

What would be a good loadout for them? EML or scatter lasers?

Shuri-cannons are best cause they're the cheapest, 10 points cheaper than scatter laser (and better AP )

As for "how to make a walker move 24" ? "
Well, notice how all eldar vehicles are light, slim, and made of wraithbone (material as hard as adamantine/ceramite composites used by imperium and extremly lighter than those used by imperium)
Then notice how all eldar have high-tech, and because of that access to high energy efficient engines and high-energy generators of compact sizes (meaning they can be carried in a small walker instead of titan or landraider-sized vehicle, and they can power the entire vehicle and it's weapon systems instead of just one thing and you need batteries/ammo for other things, which is the case with imperum and other species.)

Combine all of that, reverse all energy required for shooting to engines too and you get 24'' inch move, can't shoot, but may assault.
+
Advanced computers based on wraithbone-spirit stones combination can calculate the "air travel" so you don't have to think "will i crash or? or just die?"
And BS4... well... finaly !!! Something incorporating targeting matrices/crystals/arrays/whatever :D

But yes, it's a little bit underpriced :)
( but only a litte bit    )
