Guard Order Question

Post by Raschier » Fri Jun 15, 2018 7:08 pm

Let the 'Forwards, for the Emperor' order ignore -1 for Assault Weapons? Since it allows the unit to shoot even if it advanced, so you can fire Rapid fire without penalty and heavy weapons with a -1, but does that mean that Assault Weapons also act as if you did not advanced?

Assuming the "rules as written" aspect, the unit would be able to Move + Advance, recieve the Order at the start of the Shooting Phase, then would be able to fire its weapons (most weapons in the Astra Militarum lineup are Pistol, Rapid Fire or Heavy) as per normal.
E.i. Pistol and Rapid Fire weapons would fire at full ballistic skill, while Heavy Weapons would fire at -1 Ballistic Skill (for moving and fireing a Heavy weapon in the same turn).

I think you have to take the -1 because it says "even if it advanced" not "as if it hasn't advanced".

But then it doesn't specificy at what BS any of the weapons have to fire and I think it would be obvious for assault weapons so it's probably one of many oversights. If you ask GW on their facebook page they might say that assault weapons don't suffer -1 with the order. They usuauly give a ton of answers on there clarifying rules.
