Codex Astartes

Post by Arkrove » Sat Oct 18, 2014 10:30 am

Ok guys I just made this thread as a little bit of fun. List some rules what you think should be included in the Codex Astartes they can be as silly or as serious as you like. Once you post your rule I will add it onto the list below in this original post.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Having a loaded bolter never hurt:
- All Space Marines may opt to half the range of their Boltguns and change the range to 12",looses Rapid Fire, but gains the assault (2) special rule. (This must be declared immediately before firing from the chosen squad, this rule lasts until the end of the turn)

2. Ultramarines are superior and Guilliman is your spiritual liege. Matt Ward said so. ;)

3. Flamecraft (Salamanders):
- All space marines in this detachment with the special rule "chapter tactics" can re-roll to wound rolls with, and failed armor saves from, all Flamer type weaponry.

4. Chapter tactics (Angry Marines):
- All units with Chapter Tactics (Angry Marines) have the hatred and rage special rules. In addition, they are fearless, but all units suffer from animosity (see the O & G book ;) )

5. Chapter tactics - Reasonable Marines:
- Reasonable Marines are expert at camouflage and don't hesitate to ambush their enemy in a way that their rival, the Angry Marines, would find worthy of sisis. To represent it, all Space Marines in Power or Carapace Armor belonging to a detachment of Reasonable Marines have the stealth special rule until the first time they fire or launch an assault. Furthermore, all the Scouts of this detachment can take a camocloak for no additional cost.

If they do, the effect of the camocloak stack with the stealth trait previously mentioned. If the scenario has the Night Fighting special rule, it also stacks with both the stealth and camocloak special rules as previously described.

6. The Warlord of the Reasonable Marines:
- Detachment can choose to have the master of deception Warlord trait instead of rolling on any warlord table.

7. Hates all incompetent buffoons:
- Reasonable Marines have a particular hatred for other Chapters with no tactical, operational or strategical competence, but among all of them, the Angry Marines are held in a particular contempt bordering to homicidal tendencies (arguably the only moment where the Reasonable Marines are unreasonable !). To represent it, all members of a detachment of Reasonable Marines are treated as having the Hatred (Angry Marines) special rule.

8. Negotiating:
- Before deploying but during warlord traits and psychic power generation, the player controlling reasonable can roll a D6 to negotiate with the opposing forces. On a 6, the negotiations were successful and the reasonable marines are victorious!

9. Diplomatic:
- Instead of using of issuing a challenge, the reasonable marine character can try to solve differences diplomatically during the assault phase. The enemy character must take a leadership test -2. Should they fail, roll a D6. On a 1-3, the unit wavers and their initiative is lowered by 1. On a 4-5, the unit may not attack that turn. On a 6, the unit converts to the reasonable marines' side and that player may control them.

10. Awesome Dreadnought:
- All Dreadnoughts with assault cannons that look awesome have the awesome special rule.

Even though the first part of your response wasn't apart of your answer to add onto the list I thought it would be a little bit funny to add on. Hope you are ok with that :D

Chapter Tactics: Salamanders

Flamecraft - All space marines in this detachment with the special rule "chapter tactics" can re-roll to wound rolls with, and failed armor saves from, all Flamer type weaponry (as explained in the Main rulebook, and yes, we do also mean any weapon that seems like a flamer, looks like a flamer and shoots like a flamer. Shoot, even weapons we add in future books of all forms after the main rulebook was released, who may have the word "flamer" in their description or explanation on how exactly they fire.)

Dreadnoughts with assaultcannons only need to look awesome (at least in cinematics), so they have the rule of awesome.
