Lol, it's kind of weird type of glue for bases.

I've never seen it before. Are there any benefits to "standard" types of glue for basing?

Yea totally! It reminds me like some kind of chaos skin overgrowth. The kind of thing I would see on Possessed and Obliterators.Munin wrote:Whoa! That looks bizarre!

I bet it's rubber cement.
Also, let me know if you want to trade off the 'unusable' Necrons. I'm looking for some to convert into Flayed Ones. Did you throw the others out?

Yes, I already threw them out.Dez wrote:Also, let me know if you want to trade off the 'unusable' Necrons. I'm looking for some to convert into Flayed Ones. Did you throw the others out?
But I really doubt you would have gotten much use out of them. Some were covered in glue/cement from top to bottom, to the point where they barely resembled a GW figure anymore.
I very rarely throw GW figures away as I can always find a way to use them (even if it's only base decoration), but these ones were beyond even that.
EDIT:
Also it might have been expensive anyway since I live in Europe

Since it is too hot to work outside I have to postpone my airbrushing sessions.
In the meantime I'm working on repairing some more:

These Praetorians were part of the batch, but they looked like there were at one point assembled and then separated again. The front-backside pieces all had an unique fit (the colour helped too

Unfortunately I only found one staff among the batch, and there were no arms left on the sprues. I think the previous owner might have used the arms elsewhere, but I can't find them among the rest of the models.
Luckily I already had bought a new box so I could copy the staff pieces in greenstuff.
Same thing with the Monolith:

The top of the gun had broken off and wasn't among my bits, so I copied one from another gun. It's a very hard piece to cast so the result isn't very good, but I hope I can improve it a bit by painting.
I've tried finding spare bits online, but the only bits sellers I can find who sell Monolith guns only sell them in packs of 4 and charge 1/2 Monolith price for them. At that price I'd rather buy a new one.

Got some work done today:

Nothing fancy, but needs to be done.
Further steps include a whole lot of drybrushing... got to love Necrons...

Awesome necrons! Can't wait to see those preatorians done. Probably my favorite necron unit fluff wise.

Re: Akylos' #theweeklypaint 2015
I've had near to no progress this week. First we had hot weather which made any physical activity for me near to impossible (I'm such a whimp
), and now we have wedding/family/barbecue season, which takes over all hobby time...
Anyway, I did manage to do at least something today (sadly no painting since all my models are put away at the moment):

My version of the campaign map.
I'm still holding my breath whether or not it will hold when hung up on the wall. I haven't glued the planets yet in case I'd have to revise my strategy.

Re: Akylos' #theweeklypaint 2015
Finally got back into action!
The campaign map is finished and is safely secured to the wall:

I also finished the first of my "ressurected" Necrons:

Looks a bit monotonous but I prefer it for a Necron force.
I'm still looking at how I will do my vehicles. I'm not that keen on just going the GW route of "black with green (or blue in my case) trim", but painting them in full boltgun metal is way too boring. Maybe I'll have to check out some coloured metallics.

I love your blueish Necrons. It looks like an otherwordly light.

I think if I were a Guard seeing those come out of the ground/ come out of the mist... I'd be hoping I wore my wet pants.

Crazy cool blue necrons. Although, I'd consider painting the rim around their bases with dawnstone or some sort of grey. Just because i personally don't like black base rims.

Good idea, but this is still better than the old Goblin green bases of the 1990s!rollplayinggamer wrote:Crazy cool blue necrons. Although, I'd consider painting the rim around their bases with dawnstone or some sort of grey. Just because i personally don't like black base rims.
