Skipgiblets #theweeklypaint 2015

Post by skipgiblets » Fri Jun 05, 2015 10:10 am

I am new to the forums here, and I love this thread/idea. I'm new to Warhammer 40K as well, and painting minis. I've got two armies going - SM and CSM. I've got all my SM pieces painted, except for a squad of assault marines I got off ebay that I need to strip the paint off.

I was looking at my SM pieces last night and I can see where my painting skills have really improved. (I'm not the best painter (I'm an auditor), but surprisingly I've found painting to be very relaxing and enjoyable.) Once I get home today I'll post some pictures with what I started with to what I ended with.

I'm also proud to say I got the color scheme down I want for my CSM pieces. My wife is my color scheme advisor, and she got me the colors to use. We discussed how to lay it out on the pieces, and after the first squad, we agreed it wasn't right. So I painted a test piece that was better, but still wasn't it. Then I mixed two colors, and found what we were looking for. Tzeentch works slowly but surely.

Welcome to the Weekly Paint! Looking forward to seeing your stuff! I'll be painting a fair number of CSM soon as well - already got started with a Helbrute and some Pink Horrors, with Chosen/Possessed on the table soon :)

Welcome, and congratulations on getting your spouse involved in the hobby! While my wife wants nothing to do with it, she's very supportive (even if I do stay up until 3AM building and painting).

Looking forward to pics!

My wife is awesome; she was involved with Warhammer Fantasy before we met. On top of that she used to play D&D and has helped me come up with some sweet stuff for D&D, like these skills cheat sheets made to look like scrolls. We actually met online, playing World of Warcraft. :D

Awesome! I met my wife in a bar (I'm a musician), she isn't much of a gamer besides Cards Against Humanity (which still shocks me she likes).

You are a lucky man! I met my wife on WoW as well, but it didn't work that much since we're divorcing right now ... But I still got 3 happy years on a total of 4 with her. I wish you to be forever in love together.

I can't wait to see your chaos colour scheme. I will scry the future with the help of the Architect of Fate to see if you will find success in your painting. I feel that Tzeentch is with you and will guide you to greatness, but I have to dig the future more in detail to be sure.

I knew my wife was a keeper when our first date started with dinner out and ended up at a local game store because she needed to buy new dice. :)

First let me say welcome,
second, I like the blue, riminds me of my first game boy, since then in love with the color.
third, you lucky one, my ex hated the fact I paint miniatures and was always pushing me to start on canvas... she studies art...

Looking forward to see more of your work.

Welcome to the forum and the weeklypaint thread hope it gives you motivation.

Very few people do the split colour marine down the middle theme so full credit for going down that path. Based on what you have shown you have a very straight line, are you using tape to achieve this?
