I usually prefer painting after it's built. But with the extreme detail on the venerable dread. I think i would've preferred to paint him with his arms off.

What what. 6:AM update? Heresy! Anyways. Nobody told me that kitchens get dirty after you make pasta. So yeah. I've been cleaning up, Not much time to paint but that's irrelevant as i did actually manage to paint something(s)!
Starting with the venerable dreadnought

So i decided instead of doing more basecoats, That i'd start with the detail and be a little bit messy. So that when i go back and do more basecoats/layers then it'll save time and hopefully be a little bit smoother *texture wise* in the end.
Image
Image

Moving onto the tervigon i've decided to do basing and washing first (Genestealer purple wash) before doing basecoats for same reasons as above.

Dreading the actual basecoats and building up to a solid color. As for some reason that's the only thing i find boring about miniature painting.

Dread looks like its coming together. The more i see Nids the more i get tempted by them......i've only ever painted marines my whole entire time in the hobby.......i could do with some diversity

Hey hey hey 5:AM update as it should be! So basically. I didn't get much painting because i was busy building the rest of my grey hunters. All 10 are now assembled. 5 are ready to be primed!
Image
For my tervigon i'm almost done with basing
Image
But as you can see that red power boot? I finally fired up the blood angel painting tutorial and just finished the first basecoats! (Counting blood angel terminator as part of the basing. Otherwise i'd say i'm done.)

Looking forward to see some paint on your grey hunters! I actually don't like the head of the guy with the hammer... he looks too much like He-Man! That's why I haven't used that head, yet. Perhaps I'll think differently about it, when it's painted. So hurry up! :D

That is exactly why i chose the head in the first place

Also the head of the unpainted plasma gunner? used to have some of that fur stuff hanging down the side. But that kept me from putting shoulder pads on so i chopped it off. I hope it's not noticeable when it's painted.. Maybe it can be battle damage?

If you wouldn't have mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed. ^^
