Thanks guys! Really fun model to paint, and I've even got one whole game under my belt now. I enjoy the reactionary portion of this rule set and it flows really well. I can see myself shopping for more models very soon.

www.ebay.com/infinity .... whoops, thought I closed this window :)

One. Of. Us.

Heh. :) And yes, I love the rules to this game. They're a little complicated at first, but once you get the hang of AROs and when rolls are Face-to-Face vs Normal, it's actually pretty easy to pick up.

I just played a game last night. It was our first try using the "20x20" mission system, which was pretty cool. It offers a little bit more variety and a little less restriction on list building (i.e. not such a high premium placed on specialists) as ITS, and it was pretty fun.

Our randomly-determined primary and secondary missions were Triangulation and Espionage respectively, both of which rewarded Forward Observers and movement. We had all sorts of hilarious shenanigans (such as my Ghulam Lt gunning down my opponent's sneaky SAS FO as he climbed down a wall just short of my deployment zone, or my opponent's 3-point "why not?" War Correspondent blinding my Shaytaniyah Guided Missile Drone with a flash pulse. D'oh. Guess I shouldn't have been looking at the camera. The game was really back-and-forth and ended in a hard-fought draw. I'd have won by a single point if I hadn't foolishly dropped one of my triangulation beacons in the wrong place. Whoops!

Is your group working through the Ice Storm missions?

I don't really have a group. I have joined and participated in several of the various game leagues throughout the years (War-ma-hordes, 40k, Fantasy, Dust, etc, etc, etc) but I live an hour away from my game store. I usually end up buying and coercing my local friends to play, but to be honest the painting aspect of the hobby is what keeps me going. I think they get fed up with me buying new games when they're just getting the hang on the last one that struck my whim. Just today I almost bought the kickstarter version of kingdom death (Ended up selling for 565.00 us) just to paint the sculpts...I instead decided to put on the brakes and am thinking of picking up the USAriadena (sp) starter army box....but then again those were some sweet minis, and there's another auction going on now.....

We are living in the golden age of gaming, I think it's really hard to resist all the awesome stuff coming out. Except Infinity, but that's just me :)

Dez, is it Infinity's model aesthetics or the gameplay you don't like? Some of the older Infinity sculpts are super-cheesecakey, but then again I know you like Malifaux (which has been accused of similar sculpting issues). The newer stuff is much better, IMO.

But yeah, it's amazing how many really neat games are out there now. I am intrigued by Malifaux and curious to see how Warpath plays when it comes out. Some of the minis for that game look pretty cool. And heck, I've half considered getting back into Battletech after seeing it being played at GenCon this year.

It's the aesthetics. Ariadna comes close to being ok for me, the rest... :)

I've read through the rules, and they are interesting. Just not interested enough.

I'm crazy about Malifaux, and dying to try out Frostgrave. I love the Malifaux models, and the different factions have loads of character (one of the reasons I think we all love GW stuff).

I'm also loving Dark Age models, and the game looks really good too (been watching Ash's channel).

Yeah, it's tough to get over aesthetics you don't like. That's kind of where I am with the Kingdom Death stuff - it's a little too creepy-sexual-weird for my tastes. I can recognize the skill and detail in the sculpting, but it's just not my bag.

The buzz about Frostgrave has me intrigued too, and DropZone Commander looks interesting. At this point I'm pretty much relegating myself to skirmish systems only, though. I just don't have the time to paint hordes of minis. :(

Khankore, I can't wait to see your take on the Fusilier.

Just finished priming all of the PanO models, and the one Nomad I'm using for my challenge with Mike.

The Dropzone Commander starter box was one of those 'Whim' purchases I made a year or so ago, and I really enjoyed the simplicity of the models. I panted the entire boxed set (both sides) in 3 hours. Given, it's not that hard to do, but it was nice to have something to play with the following day.

Yeah, that's how BattleFleet: Gothic was; I think I painted almost my entire fleet in a weekend. And each additional ship done after that was no more then an evening's work.

Time to get to work and stop chatting! I decided to start on the PanO challenge model first. I must say that I'm so bad at putting these things together that I've manage to create a very noticeable line on her thigh where the two pieces glue together, but I'll possibly tend to that later. I just finished the face and am going to take on some of the armor next. I still haven't decided if it's going to be traditional blue, but that's for another posting :) I decided to make her looking off to the side to giver her a smug look, and think I've captured her expression. Here she is so far...
