Dodenborg "the weekly paint 2015"

Post by Dodenborg » Wed Mar 18, 2015 2:58 pm

Hello everyone,

This will be my first weekly paint post. I've been looking through some others their work and damn there are some nice pieces in here (whole site).

So I like the idea to put in a weekly overview, just for the motivation and hope you'll post some advice.

This week I started on an miniature of celtos, Idril of the Silent Arrow.

Looks good, though it could use a little more light/balance in the pic :)

I'd like to see a close-up of his face and right shoulder, looks like you've got some interesting freehand there, but I can't really make it out in this photo.

For the foto's I do apologize, I'm also 'new' to taking pics up close so will try to work it out in the futur.
I want to paint huge ?popping? vains to indacate he's standing on his last legs , the shoulder plate should cover an ilness that's spreading over the rest of his body.

The story behind this mini will be that he's of a dying breed, more powerfull then before, but to what costs.

Thanks for the welcoming.

The model is called irdril of the silent arrow, from I-kore (#12104), Celtos I suppose.

you'll find a list of their models in the link bellow, it's a pdf.

Just found a few cool sell-out minis in my local store. So bought some cheep random mini's to please the joy of painting.

They are, but where I am they are difficult to come by, or I just need to to find the right way to get them...
So if you see some nice models hope you'll be able to get them.

If your interested in space marines you'll love void as well.
I'm not into gaming and the different classes/games/etc. so I don't care for theire back ground or if they match in the story line of your game. I'll make one up for myself while painting and have fun while doing it

It's been a while, but will try to update more often, if I can ask you all for a critical judgement.

Epic Duck Mike asked for a close up:

Image

And the I tried to freehand a nicer clown (first tryout on the wings of my wyvern), hope you'll see it clear. Anyone an idea how to let it pup out more?

Image

As a break I did Boromir

And now I suppose it's time for some fun. For that I'll paint two chaos warriors and see how far I'll get tonight...

Oh I like those! I like the detail and your use of color. Do you use a brush for the finery, or something else? (Fountain pen perhaps?)
Nice work!

Nice work!
Thank you. No only using a brush. Bought me a Winsor & Newton 0 to experiment with. What I do is wet palette, Acrylic flow Improver (winsor & newton) and water mixture.

The ratio of mixture is 0,2 ml AFI and 4,8 ml water. For every new color I use I'll mix some of my mixture (+/- one stipple of the brush) and paint, till I'm happy with the flow.

This I test on piece of plastic before aplying on the miniature.
