I've added some of what I'm working on to fill the table in this thread:

The above building is in there painted, but I still haven't detailed the roof parts.... gotta get back to that. ;)

You guys can get great ideas for custom terrain from the vids put out by Blue Table painting. They have an Infinity league batrep series that shows off a few of their scratchbuilt tables. When you look close you can see all sorts of bits and plumbing used in really clever ways. But anyway Dave's old vids here on MWG for terrain give a really good example of how to make that happen. Cheap, fun, and effective.

To fill a table... Dollar store plastic crates to store CDs. Make great buildings. You can slip silver foil wrapping paper to the inside walls. Instant reflective windows. You can use them individualy or stack them for taller buildings.

Hardware store and dollar stores are DIY terrain. Gold mines.

I've started making my own terrain with prints and black foam core board.

I posted the templates and directions on how to make them over at the infinity forums (there are several good threads in the Arcology forum about terrain too)

I've seen those designs. They look really good.

I find they look best when the majority of the table is themed that way.
Thanks for sharing the link over here too!

I built my table from Expanded PVC and lots and lots of different model kits.

Foamed PVC is usually used in signmaking, but it cuts like foamcore... comes in lots of colours and can be glued, sanded and sprayed like plasticard. Usually fairly cheap as well. 8x4 feet of it usually runs me about $40 from places like Piedmont Plastics.

Here's my four tile table. with road sections, street drainage, etc. before being painted. This is one tile. I've got a parking area, corner street and two straight sections which all line up for a 4x4' table to set up terrain on. :)

Image

Here it is painted with a variety of terrain on it. The low buildings are unreleased expanded foam buildings GW made in the early 2000's that I acquired a few dozen of. The containers are from AT43 (I've got about fifty that I grabbed when Rackham went tits up). Scatter terrain is from various sources.

Image

Recently I've been adding modular and multi level 'modern' buildings which will be used both in Zombie gaming and other near-future settings like Infinity. These are by Demo's Laser Cut Terrain and are quite nice.

I'm looking at the Anetociti's range of future vehicles to populate my streets a little as well. :)

That stuff looks great.
I'm looking forward to some of the stuff upcoming from Antenocity, but I'm not sure how to get it in my local.

He's got some brilliant stuff and is now an official Infinity partner. I may need to get some guys on board to make an order together. He gives free shipping to North America if the order is big enough.

Thanks. there's some great inspiration there. I'll probably steal some of the ideas for the walkways and such, in fact. :D

Here's something I've been working on.
We cut some MDF into squares and rectangles to represent building foundations and sidewalks, then took some thinner MDF and cut roads out of those, making the sidewalk automatically higher than the roads.
I would have planned the design out a little more carfully and glued the peices down to a board, but I don't have the space to store such a thing. We have to make it as modular as possible for travel and storage. In this case, I also want to cover up my bright blue ping pong table we often play on.

Image

I used a dremel tool with a router attachement to outline the sidewalks, then carved the divisions and cracks for each slab using a hobby knife.

This picture shows one possible layout, before the painting was finished. I'm not a big fan of the long lines of fire along the roads, but there are ways around that...

Image

Here's some (unfinished) buildings on it before I did any painting... kind of proof of concept:

Image

One square with some small buildings and a Kazak model. You can see the extra carving and drybrushing on this on:

Image

And the others are all painted now:

I have to put the lines on the roads, and I have a couple of roads I put asside to modify... for instance, one of them is being built into a cratered piece... will probably do something similar with the other.

Hi, posting on an ipad so apologies for typos/autocorrect flubs. I am just starting the game and building my terrain collection. If price is an issue I will second the plascraft stuff. It's surprisingly sturdy, and Dirt cheap. The only complaint i hear about is that its light. If you don't like that glue some washers to it. The next cheapest is an dmg company called Sharkmountedlasers. I plan on finishing my collect with this guys stuff. The same size buildings as other mdv companies for half the price. Sharkslide set. The guys a die hard infinity fanatic, so the terrain is pretty much meant for it.
