The Battles of Sehket

Post by Lightningsymphony » Thu Feb 04, 2016 11:04 am

As kind of an idea what this is going to be about:

The Story:

An anubite warrior of the first sphere and the last Canite born on earth, Sehket has seen her home taken from her by no less then her own mother Anubis, whom she has never forgiven for that even after her death. Cast out of the Canite Empire for a crime she could not have avoided-you cannot choose your own mother after all-she took her ship and her Legion out into the dark void. Wandering the darkness of space for the longest time, though her heart ached with the loss of her home and a burning desire to do anything she could to help her brother and sister Anubites. Many of them eventually joined her in the void, all of them those born on earth, and eventually, they took the sigil of Anubis as their own and repainted their armor from the legion gold to it's original color. The color of the old Anubian judges, black edged in white. Eventually, she and her warriors grew sick of wandering, and attempted to head back to their home, Earth. This was thwarted when she learned from a human ship she defended from attack that the Imperium of Man, a powerful military force and government, had taken control of a very large part of the Milky Way.

With this information, Sehket must choose her next path carefully, as it could end badly were she to make a mistake. At her command is no less a force then five legions and their numerous Khanate auxiliaries, not to mention a fleet more then capable of rivaling any fleet that could possibly be sent to battle them, yet before her is a force of total war. Her choices will either save the Anubites, or doom them to their destruction. All that is clear, is that can only end in Total War.

The Canite fleet watched the imperial ship leave their presence, a feeling of dread hung over the fleet, their former confidence in their mission quite shaken with the information provided by that single ship. Most of the wreckage from what had been identified as Chaos forces outside of any sort of threat range, though being picked through by a handful of crews for any supplies that could be used by their fleet. Their mighty miles-long vessels simply rested, immobile, in space as they watched the smaller ship depart-though said ship was amongst the most powerful the Imperium could muster, a battleship-the Canite were hesitant. Attacking such a force would not bode well for them, especially as they had heard that this 'Imperium' has hundreds of such vessels, which their three great ark ships simply could not withstand. So the fleet had to decide on it's next move carefully, a task being considered by the fleets master, Arch-Castellan Sekhet of the Judges of Anubis.

Currently Sehket was settled in the forward Arkship, considering the vessel as it left, fully processing the information she had received from that one little vessel. Bringing up a display but with a thought towards the ships AI, she considered the area marked by the vessel as belonging to the Imperium of Man, a vast track of space that was once explored by her own people but six hundred and fifty thousand years prior. Considering the size of the force, she simply did not have the will or the strength required to launch an assault on their seat of power-especially in light of their loss of the beacon upon earth some time ago. So now she had to make a choice, something that she could not leave to just any of her Castellans. "Exarch Rotas, I need you to follow that ship, find out where it goes. Everyone else, make sure we get all the food and supplies we can from those ships. I will not ration us again, so anything salvageable is ours." Several affirmative responses over their psychic network tells her that her actions are heard, and ships already begin moving or launching more boats to search the destroyed. The Grand Cruiser of Rotas and it's escorts quickly moving to catch up with the imperium vessel, sending word they would escort them back to safety.

The fleet would eventually follow the vessels of their Exarch, as word had been sent of encountered resistance. This new Resistance called 'Orks' and they were fighting Rotas and their imperial ally quite fiercely, Rotas Half-Legion not quite able to handle the ground threat of these brutal aliens as well as he had thought. Suffering some losses that he thought he would not, and therefore calling for aid. Though he was only a Khanate, so losing 'some men' could well be a few platoons in reality. So with a deciding call had Sehket brought the fleet about to lead them to the battle underway, which may also banish the dread her proud Warriors were facing. Having known something of the Ork race from some time ago, it was easy to figure a way to fight their usually less then subtle actions, a strong hand would be needed to deal with them though-Orks loved to fight.

The battle in orbit was utter chaos, maybe a dozen of destroyed imperial vessels all that remained of the planets defenders, whereas a massive Ork fleet hung in orbit. The planets reinforcements-the vessels of Rotas and the single imperial vessel-were of absolutely no match for the massive amount of firepower. So had they been trying to draw only small amounts of their ramshackle vessels back to their group, though as the main fleet arrived they blundered a little and attracted over half of the fleet to their location with an unfortunate discovery of one of their escort vessels. Luckily, the fleet had arrived in time to aid their beleaguered allies and perhaps turn the ork ships back.

"All ships, hard to port! Bring our guns to bear on these raiders, let them feel the might of the Canite once again!" So dozens of guns were brought to bear against the Orks, the Canite vessels unleashing veritable hell upon the orkish vessels, ripping chunks out of them with combined Lance and weapons battery fire. Multiples of the smaller Ork vessels simply vanishing in the storm of Canite weaponry. However, the larger vessels were not always disabled in the storm, and before long were encroaching into range with their weapons. The battle had truly begun, over a dozen Ork ships were returning fire and battling the Canite ships, vessels exchanging broad sides with Armoured prows as armored prows approached those vessels. Even if said ships were far heavier in weight and strength then said ramshackle vessels, it had devolved into a brutal war in space, though there would only be one victor-as the powerful canite were quickly showing. Already several of those brutally made vessels were coming apart in the storm of plasma and lance beams, though as always, orks would have their war and not be denied.
