The Valkereyes were hard to control, but the ones who simply rotated it on its spot did better. The ones who tried to fly it crashed, or were shot down by the flak of biovores and warriors, or the diving shrikes which had emerged.
The Remaining ships fired several salvo's before the shrikes attacked them, forcing them to flee. They ran from the massive winged abominations attacking their ships and fled to shelter. The venomfex was visibly wounded now (down to 6/10 wounds) and was moving slower.
They had to make a tough choice.
A)Defend the base
B)Flee. regroup and counter attack. The is no cowardice in regrouping.
C) Rally the remaining tanks and ships to assualt the venom fex.

The guardsmen rally the remaining tanks and gunships, which in turn release several salvo's of fire onto the venomfex. The Mighty beast staggers from the weight of the impacts, and its entire egg sac ruptures, spraying bluish green blood, odd worm like creatures and at least 40 venomthropes. But thats not all. The Creatures weight as it falls crushes a wall and several defenders, leaving them prey to the Tyranids. The air is heavy with the stink of toxins and death, and a cloud of spores is circling the corpse of the venomfex.
Several guardsmen in the cloud dissolve into bones, guts and fabric as the sheer deadliness of the toxins takes its toll.
Many are still alive, but the spore cloud is advancing. Do you risk life and limb for a rescue, or retreat and reconsolidate outside the base.
A)Rescue attempts
B) Flee

Also say if you want this venomfex to be a real Tyranid!

B..

Venomthropes are highly toxic.. even if it doesnt get into our lungs we'd die anyway, so if B ends up with us dying, I swear to the hive mind I will rage from this :L

The density of the cloud swallows up any one entering the toxins, and to the fleeing ones it seems as though they disappeared. The Guardsmen fleeing dive out of the base, and one the edge of their hearing they hear the screams of those going into the smoke cloud.
They run through the grass, wary of lictors, yet the first to flee bought flamethrowers, and are clearing the grass ahead. Eventually they push through into a rock outcrop. The can see around them for miles, and they can see the base.
Its in ruins. The Orbital cannons have fallen, and the only one left standing is glowing blue.Thats worriyng. The Swarm of tyranids is bigger then thought. It is impossible. In the span of three hours it has grown in size form several hundred to several hundred thousand. It stretches to the horizon, and is impossibly fast moving. The Living tide is constantly growing as hundreds, perhaps thousands of spores drop from the dawn lit skies.
The Remaining guardsmen see horrors beyond imagination.Several venomfexes walk along the flanks, and the thickest parts of the swarm envelope bio-titans and tyrannofexes. Harpies patrol the pink tinged sky,and trygons constantly emerge and dive into and out of the ground. This continent is dead, and the capital is still under the process of evacuation.
You need to signal for help:
A) Light a fire from the tree bark and grass tufts on the ground.
B) Try to use the Vox to call for aid.

Well, that's another life gone. I'm now sentinel-less. I'll run over to them and start a fire. It will hopefully dissuade the tyranids. You guys signal for help.
