Group Build XXIX(29): Magic

Post by Blue » Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:25 am

Welcome to Group Build 29!

This month's theme is Magic.
Fairly broad theme here guys. Don't forget to just have fun with it.

If anyone has any questions; this is the place to ask!

Rules: PLEASE READ

1) Those who participate are expected to post progress reports of their build under their own topic heading (i.e. GBXIX:Blue’s Big Hill).
-Please format it like this. Place ‘GBXVIII:’ in the beginning of your subjects.
-Once completed you MUST edit the topics title to include the word “complete”. (i.e. GBXV:Blue’s Big Hill-Complete) This is done by editing the original posts subject.-Once completed I will choose 2 of the completed pictures from every build to be added to the voting thread.

2) Please don't post pictures of a piece of terrain that you have already built. The idea of this build is to make something new. Therefore you must post at least 2 pictures, one being a work in progress, one being a finished product. Play fair, don't cheat!

3) Entries must be completed by the deadline in order to qualify.

4) You can enter multiple times.

5) All participants that complete will get a campaign ribbon added to their sig.
-I will keep tabs on everyone who completes and deserves a ribbon/badge until the ribbons are issued.

6) Builds must be painted to be eligible for voting.

7) HAVE FUN!
The build begins Tuesday 8/30/11 and finishes Sunday 9/25/11 11:59 PM EST.

Follow-up thoughts:
It is recommended that you hold off on making a thread until you have some thing to show in it. (You can always do a sketch and post a picture of that)
Take some pictures of your build that you feel really show it off the best. It always helps to have a mini next to it for scale also.

Good luck everyone! GO!

As long as its magical in some way your good. Are the buildings really going to float?
I typed magical into a thesaurus:
bewitched, charismatic, clairvoyant, conjuring, demoniac, diabolic, eerie, enchanted, enchanting, ensorcelled, entranced, entrancing, extraordinary, fascinating, fiendish, ghostly, haunted, imaginary, magic, magnetic, marvelous, miraculous, mysterious, mystic, mythical, necromantic, occult, otherworldly, parapsychological, runic, sorcerous, spectral, spellbinding, spellbound, spiritualistic, spooky, telekinetic, thaumaturgic, tranced, uncanny, unusual, weird, witching, witchlike, wizardly, wonderful
I bold faced some words that stand out to me.

It was just an idea. Though a car tyre compressor and orks that worship malteasers is a great idea.

Hmmm demonic seems the best and most open route to go i might chuck something in cant promise anything though.

Count me in! I've got a piece I just bought that I've been wanting to paint and turn into a High Elf piece. However I'll probably need to paint my High Elf mage now too.... gonna be a busy month!

I dont want to be that guy but, I believe your title says 29 and in the post it says 28...
Anyway, I would like in.
Im thinking bigboy fulcrums.
All the new GW fulcrums seems so small... I cant fit a Ogre Butcher on top of 'most' of those, same with a Fateweaver, where are these bigboys supposed to stand on-top on these things!?

Also, for 40k I always though Psykers were pretty much magic? If someone Psykered my mellon, Id call Voodoo.
Fantasy: WoC = 5000, Daemons = 3000, Dwarfs = 4000
40k: IG = 9000, SW = 4000
Warmachine: Cryx = 200
Hordes: Skorne = 100
All 100% Painted

I think I'll try my hand at this, Im thinking of a magic base for a wizard or somethings but it will differ depending on the school work load.

I'm trying to decide between a shrine for my new Tzeentch chaos warriors, a Librarian sanctuary for my Space Marines, or a *SECRETIVE* tower for my dwarves...
