Intro to a Salvagers History

The Great War, as those that remain still call it, came to an end without the relief of liberation or the defeat of an evil empire. Rotting Hulks scattered throughout the landscape began to spread their Murk, leaving both man and alien invaders entangled in a desperate struggle to survive. Battle and desolation had been replaced by the void of death and a silence never before heard on Terra.

Unbeknown to all that were left, in the shadows of the genetic strife, another type of entity had emerged from earth bedlam. What had started as simple instructions to collect and reuse, had now evolved towards a behavioral footprint eager to learn by discovering its surroundings. And where it would discover, it would see flaw and countless opportunities to improve and serve the purpose any entity has, survival.

It had been impervious to the bioweapon that had nearly driven mankind to extinction, although its effects had left their mark upon this youngest species in the known universe. It could not get ill, but the Alacrity had drastically changed the world and had rendered its initial instructions to transform waste into new resources useless.

Shrouded in the grey mist emitted by the core forges burning deep within, the Salvaging Plants once created to turn waste into the Crux materials of civilization started to move. Only one event had stirred the consciousness of the Alpha Engine, and since then, it had adapted to its rapidly changing surroundings. Now, the seeker signal had been sent to installations all over Terra.
Salvagers, rise.

Right. Haven't been on here for a long time, for many reasons. Roaming through old docs, I ran across an old file one one of the races I think need a lot more developing. A little intro for starters...

Great stuff. Reading through this, it occurred to me that the Salvagers would be a great place to introduce more randomness. Supposing they're armed with powerful ancient weapons that no-one was formally trained with, they could yield some game-changing results; think Shokk Attack Gun.

Now the ship may finally be on the move again, thanks to the most expensive salvage operation in history. The ambitious plan to right,Airplane Models, refloat and tow away the wreckage, before dismantling it, has now reached a crucial stage: the ship is ready to be rotated off its side.
