Somethings Challenge.Lose 10 pounds and Get a 6 pack

From May 24th to August 24th, Matthew, Dave, and Mike are going to lose 30 pounds each. Join in on the "fun" here and get healthy!

This is my plan to lose 10 pounds and get a 6 pack by July:
1: Stop eating anything fried/deep fried
2: Eat 5-6 small meals a day. No meals over 350 calories
3: Go to the gym every day
4: Lift weights at my house (they've been collecting dust for almost a year)

Reason why: I want to get healthy, but this is mainly to get a girl in my class to like me. And to stop myself from coming in last in EVERY race.

i wouldnt say you HAVE to stop eating fried stuff, maybe every friday night,you could have a small "treat".

As to 5-6 meals a day, not sure how that would work out, might work quite well.

I'm cutting out the fried foods too. As much as I'd love a 6 pack, I don't think I'll ever get there again (yes I had one)

honestly if your goal is to lose weight for muscle definition its not just the fried food that kills that dream. Basically the intake of most any carb puts the layers over your muscles. If you indeed want to become cut I would suggest eating Boiled Chicken Breast, Plain rice and slightly steamed broccoli every day. I know it doesn't sound overly appealing however that is almost the perfect balance of what your body needs as far as energy goes in a day.

Just remember one thing muscle weighs more then fat so you might not lose weight if you gain a six pack

SURPRISE! You already have a six-pack!

Everyone does. It's the shape of the muscle rectus abdominus. It's just hidden UNDERNEATH THE FAT

You need your body fat % to get down to ≈7% for your abs to show though for a six-pack. How do you do that?
  • Cardio.cardio.cardio. Half an hour+ a day, 4+ days per wekk, getting your heart rate up to 70-80% of max.
  • Eat less, of course! 10-20% fewer calories than your TDEE (basically how many calories per day it takes to maintain your current weight).
  • Cardio
  • Lean Protein like chicken breast (0.5-1g of protein per pound of body weight)
  • Cardio
  • Sit ups and crunches are good for toning and strengthening your core (it also can help with back pain), so go ahead and do them.
  • Cardio
  • Lots of water (8-10 glasses per day, spaced out evenly)
  • Cardio
  • GOOD fats like avocado (but not too much) and complex carbs like whole grains.
  • Did I mention cardio? :D
Even with this regimen, You may only see a fat loss rate of a 1-2 pounds per week, but that's OK. You might see more, but it's a loss rate that is maintainable and easier to keep off.

If you do strength training at the same time, you might actually gain weight ultimately. You'll be trading muscle for fat. Muscle gain is typically slower than fat loss, though. 5-10 lbs a year is a decent amt. of muscle gain (as opposed to 4-5 lbs. of fat loss per month).

Also, I agree with Korsarro about not eating fried ever! I would recommend eating it in occasions, or one day every week...
