Direct from the Bunkhouse!

Postby BunkhouseBuster » Fri Jan 13, 2012 3:19 pm

Greetings, all!

This thread shall be a log for all of my conversion efforts in my Wargaming career. Up until now, I hadn't been doing much in the way of conversions and just playing with what I had. But then I saw a tournament coming up at my local gaming store, and as I play IG but didn't have a proper Vendetta yet, I decided to go for it!

And now, I will present to you over these next couple weeks my best efforts at conversions and magnetization of my armies. I hope all y'all enjoy what's to come!

Here are the Works-In-Progress for four Ogryns. They are made with Warhammer Fantasy Ogres and Ogre Leadbelchers, some Imperial Guard Heavy Weapons Teams Heavy Bolters, Green Stuff, and various bitz from my infantry leftovers.

These are by no means finished. I've still got bits to put on each of them, including some old metal Ork 'Ard Boyz shoulder pads and Imperial Aquilas coming. When i field them in the Tournament later this week, they'll fall in behind one or two of the pewter GW Ogryn Bone 'Ead Model (because I don't have time to make all of them for the game, and I still like that model).

I hope you enjoy! Next time, either these guys closer to finished or magnet placements on a Manticore!

Yeah, I'm happy with the way they turned out. I've got them painted, and I'll get them up here as soon as I get the camera back. I'll take some awesome converted models rather than the big, pewter, and rather unappealing models; I could spend $22.50 USD each, or get a couple boxes of Ogres and build them at $8 USD each and no one else will have any like this (unless someone rips me off, which I would encourage because it's more awesome to have converted models anyway).

But anyways, back to content: Here are some images of magnetization I did on my Manticore back in late December 2011. I spent far too long worrying about pinning or some other way without any outcome, so I sat down, drilled holes, glued in magnets, and Green-Stuffed around them.

Here we go:

This is the final product, with everything as it should be.
Image

This is an image of the rails that one would normally glue the rockets too. What I did was scrape out the rail with a drill and glued in the magnet with a bit of Green Stuff to re-shape the rail.
Image

This was the easy part; take a small wad of Green Stuff, a magnet, and glue them into the holes on the rocket.
Image

And to show that they are indeed magnetized, here's the rockets on backwards. You know, just in case anything outflanks from behind.

Next time: some converted, painted Ogryns!

What was the point of magnetizing the manticore?

Putting them in backwards seems like a smart idea especially if your facing Creed lol

Nice job and keep up the good work!

So I could remove the missiles and keep track of how many rockets are left. (For those unfamiliar, it only has four shots of its rockets per game.)

Also: to keep track of Weapons Destroyed results

Also also: because it's more awesome this way.

I get it, I'm not familiar with the manticore rules.
