 Post subject: Mycetic Spore Pod help

As you can see I've tried painting up the Monsters Hatcher pod as a Mycetic spore for my new Tyranids army.

I guess it's okay, tabletop standard? Just.
But I really am not that happy with it. Could someone give me some pointers or ideas on how I could spruce it up a bit please?

Give it a base and put it in a small crater, then put some more vines, and such on it..

You could paint it in some more fleshy pink tones to make it look more organic as well.
