Tuomir wrote:Example A: Gunnery Sergeant Harker. "A giant of a man", has hunted Catachan Devils, carries a heavy bolter like a normal guardsman might carry a rifle. No extra training. Rank, Gunnery Sergeant.

Example B: Guardsman Marbo. "One man army", "skills that surpass any of the Imperium's highly trained operatives". Legends surround him, of destroying armies alone and hunting Lictor's. Rank, guardsman.

Enough said of the recognition of the capabilities of Imperium's soldiers, eh?
Okay, you picked the two special soldiers from the Guardsmen. The Imperium has billions of Soldiers. You picked two.

Cmon, It's BS to start picking special units from a Codex and then setting them as a standard.

Pound is by no means standard. We wouldn't RP characters if they were standard. We RP those with something special. I'm RPing a giant of a man and a cunning and brilliant slightly wimpy Guardsman.

How are we not playing standard characters?

Jack, is a normal guardsmen, if not mute.
What makes my Storm troopers special? He has equal training to another Storm trooper, he is no different.
Jason is just a pilot, no more, no less.
Bone2Pick is a Doom Eagle, A Space marine, and he has no differentiating features other than being one.
Our resident Loon, ChaosFarseer, is an Eldar, yet does not have any hugely defining traits that make their character different from any other Eldar of that standard.

Playing an RP where your character is special, is a poor form of RP. You're trying to force a main character without considering the ripple effects it has.

The reason our characters, do so well in the story, is Plot armor. Nobody likes killing their own character, since it ruins their story.

But whatever, I'll concede, let Pound be 8 feet tall. No point arguing over something that doesn't effect me, since I can always just back out of whatever I'm doing with Shas and go somewhere else to Roleplay.

I'm playing a Caradochian. There isn't a rule that says the character has to be normal. That'll just be boring and stupid.

Okay enough of this debate, it's circular. I agree a bit with both sides but there's no need to go into details. Focus on working together or happily go separate ways in the Hive, there's plenty to do. If you're having problems this early in your interaction it may be sign that the two of you aren't a great match for a co-op story.

It's not that we can't Roleplay together, we've interacted before, It's just I like to pick thing's apart since I'm a huge 40k story nerd.

I just like arguing against you, because you are a worthy opponent. Commando_Jim, you make the best counter-arguments on the board.

Here's hoping we get some more posts up soon. I've been waiting for Ninja, Crusher, and Fanatic to get going again.
