woohoo starter kit arrived!

Post by azzerath » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:23 am

My starter army and rule books arrived! Scanned through them last night. Now, obviously I've only scanned them and haven't read them in depth but I am very impressed. The game itself isn't too complicated, yet has lots of options for depth. I'm hoping to play a sample game this weekend.

That's the best part about this game, is that it's so simple it allows for all that depth! So many tactical solutions are great when not overcomplicating things with rules.

I need to play a couple practice games. I am really liking the looks of the South though, specifically the ESE, I like the versatility in what can be core and such. Although off the top of my head I really like the idea of many forward observer types and a lot of IF raining down. Course, I haven't actually tried it in a game yet.

The beauty of ESE is that you can pick an Honour Guard that will make your Scout Cadres a Core choice! But don't forget that you can only send out your FO to as many unique models as the level of your EW skill, so make sure you boost it to level 3!

yeah, it is alos beutiful how they can send 10 medium bazooka shots at a squad of grizzlies and the grizzlies get 5 times over killed, (saw it in a batrep) poor, poor grizzlies... are you going for black talons, peace river, north or south in ESE?

From the same squad during the same activation?

I really like the Black Talons. Probably for bigger games I'll include them, but for smaller ones I was eyeing the Humanist Alliance. Use the recon squad for FO for the striders.
