what next?

Post by khani » Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:12 am

hey guys, i just got the interpolar war began starter set so i am wondering how to expand because my friends loved this game so i am expanding my nrth and south rather than just expanding my NAL. i am thinking of getting the firesupport squad for both of my armies and then going to get some recon squads as well a bit later, my friend wants to collect black talons or peace river. so whatcha think, i want both forces to be balanced and equal but still diffenent to each other because right now its just if you want a panzeraust and snub cannon or a grenade launcher and bazooka.

Fire support squads are a good bet, pretty equal for both sides.

what about a mammoth and a fire support squad because yesterday i played a game with my dad because my friedns were out and he said he thought ir was pretty good, gennerally he dislikes wargames and i think i might be able to get him to take the south army and then we can collect together, i really like playing with my dad because hes always there and i can always grab a game with him.

I play south and have collected striders, the Sagitarrius's, Naga's, and Fire dragons. These are all core for the HAPF and are really neat models. I have put together 2 strider cadre's as core, a GP squad, a fire support squad, an opsec squad, a tank cadre, and a MP squad. The best thing to do is go on gear garage, see what squads you want and build them as you want.

If you're comparing to Northern units, IMO I don't think there is anything equal to it. If you read the blurb in the FS Cadre, you'll see that it's role is really halfway between Strike and Fire Support if compared to Northern organization. I'd say go with a Northern Dragoon Squad, that way you can add Grizzlies, Jaguars and Cheetahs with interesting weapons builds.

what if i add another general squad but not buy a general squad. get 2 cheetahs, 2 jaguars as leaders for my squads, 4 hunters for... being hunters and get black mambas sama role as above and 2 iguanas, 4 jagers. i was thinking after that i might get a mammoth and iguana paratroopers and jager paratroopers so one squad has heavy support while the other has reserves, its about ezula if i make it a mammoth squad of 2 and it will deferentiate my armies.

after buying the South starter I just built squads based on the book and Gear Garage. Just make sure, depending on which faction you choose, you cover your core army based on the TV you chose.

Reserves aren't as great as you think they might be, considering Objectives and placement against a spam army.

Mammoths are great because they have ATMs, but you have be very careful on how to use them. Make sure you keep them in dense terrain to get Cover bonuses to DEF to make up for their lack of speed. Can't really say how they perform vs a Fire Support Cadre.

i was thinking, how about a recon squad for my norlight armed forces and a fire support sqaud for my south republican army so that the sra are heavy while naf are fast (they have a snub cannon wo it balances it out)

Are you saying your Northern Recon Squad carries an SC? AFAIK, I don't think that's possible.
