The scale is 1:144 or 12mm, but as you can see in this article, out of context, Gears work well at 28mm as well. They also mix well with 15mm and N-scale terrain.

Mason has done some other inpressiv works. (As many others :)).
The DP9 Gallery has many more examples of paintwork :).
