For a once a year event of this magnitude, I do not think that is so steep a price to pay. Especially considering the costs of transporting tables, terrain, hall rental, staffing, amongst other potential issues. Not to mention that this takes a great deal of planning to come up with.

While I would have loved it to be a bit cheaper, that is just me being cheap. And it is not like we can expect Matt and Dave to be doing this at cost, or pro-bono.

Nope, it's no typo. Last year's event cost more money than it made, and this year we're doing even more, including a bigger hall, and adding prizes.

You just got lucky to attend it when it was cheaper than it should have been.

Were you there to help set up the tables and terrain? That alone was enough work to justify $50 for this event just to get it set up and took down when it wasn't even that far from mwg, and considering prizes, video coverage, planing, transportation and organization just to name a few I wonder if even 50 is too little? And I mean come on, how often do you find some one who can organize a good fun 500,000 point apocalypse game? Especially one with so many famous wargamers? It's not every day you meet Matt, Dave, Joe, Dan, Paul and so many other amazing wargamers all in one room!

And seeing as some tournaments charge 20$ with out lunch included I think 50 is a steal!

I know I'd love to be there again this year if I can find the time!

I am in agreement with jae4x4, last year they were 20$. 50 seems kinda steep for a non competitive game.

I wouldn't complain over 50$. I'd be willing to pay 4x as much just for the fun of being in this game. Astronomicon is 2x as expensive, Warmasters is comparable, and Conquest is 1.5x more expensive and those events (being great) are not close to the scale of this game.

This might seem rather trivial, but at $50 I really want to make sure that I am getting fair value for my money.

Is the facility going to have central air? I was sweating like crazy and I must say it was not an ideal experience last year.

Yes it will.

Last year's had it too, but it literally broke down the day before our event.

This new venue is a little more modern, so it shouldn't have any problems.
