First, I want to apologize to our Xeno's friends, as this does not entirely apply to them (besides Eldar and Tau).

Anyway, given this is our third year doing this, I was thinking it might be neat to create a series of campaign badges, in the sense that a regiment gets a badge for every tour they served in. Of course, it would help if we had some sort of narrative background for the games, to help develop the image (something specific to the planet/field of battle, etc.).

Additionally, I was thinking about going one further, and designing one for each of the previous games as well, just as an extra call out for the veterans of the first two Apocalypticon's.

The last element I was thinking about including was by making this a Water Transfer image. I think it would be pretty cool to have the image on a water transfer that we could add to the hull of our tanks/flyers/transports as a sort of service history.

Anyone else interested in this, or do I simply have too much Warhammer on the brain?

This is a brilliant idea. The fluff this will create will add to the narrative aspect of the story.

Xenos doesn't have to be left out though - Tyrannid players could add some new colours to their carapace armour or Tyrannid and Demons could add a random arm or leg to their bases that might have the campaign badge still attached - Dark Eldar, Chaos Marines and Orks could add some trophies that have the campaign badge still attached to helmets etc. Eldar can mourn the destruction of their enemy by including the campaign badge as a kill marker on their vehicles or on their flags.

I need some campaign badges for my Titan banners. To go along with the kill markings.

I like this idea!

But what will the badge look like? I think it should definitely have a MWG feel to it, like the use of color or shape.

Or the badge could look like the logo for the event... we need a logo for the event!

And you are the perfect artist to create that kind of logo Kris - if you have any spare time that is.

I figured something that had a distinct 40k feel, combined with some sort of MWG aspect to it was ideal. As I am hardly an artist, it would be great if someone started throwing ideas and images out there.

The real question becomes where can we find blank transfer slides that we can print the image onto, and then distribute en masse.

Of the icons that Vache has listed, I like the Triangle. The reason why is that it is a simple shape - easily recognizable and if you put the Miniwargaming Cube within the triangle you get something similar to a stylized "A"

A for Apocalypticon or whatever it is going to be called in the future.

You could define the year by adding more triangles. I believe this year is the 4th year that the Apocalypse game will be recorded, so maybe a collection of 4 triangles surrounding the MWG dice.

Just a thought

I really like this idea. This would, as already stated, add more of a narrative feel to the game, which many people said they wanted more of. Could we do the MWG dice, but for each Apocalypticon change the color of it. I.e first year light green/green and second year a blue dice, and so on. How does that sound?

Well, here are some ideas... let me know what you think. Any input is welcome... as long as it's constructive...

I'm kinda partial to 2.4...

I have to agree on number two. It looks slick, and would look better as a water transfer for our tanks.

I like 2.4, but I'm also digging the teeth of 2.5

Just a suggestions, but you could maybe even add something to denote campaigns endured, like chevrons:

I like 2.4 as well - I'm thinking that instead of chevrons we could denote the number of years by how many mwg dice skulls we apply or by the colour of the dice. You are green when you start but you become more and more seasoned when with each year. Similar to Karate you could go from a green belt to a black belt (and all colours in between).

Another thought would be the MWG logo on one side of the dice, the 2.4 skull on another and a number of pips on the top of the dice to denote year.
Once you reach six pips the colour of the dice could change.

The only issue I can see with creating different colours/designs, is that it would require the removal and reapplication of the transfer on a yearly basis. I like the idea of simply adding to the transfers on there, and once we actually have some people at the five year mark (how many are even getting to three? I can think of maybe 5 or 6 of us).
