Updated for 2013

We're going to have a set of house rules for our Apocalypticon events.

What I need you to do is submit your ideas of what you think should not work in Apocalypse.

For example, Mindshackle Scarabs will NOT work on Gargantuan creatures.

Once you have submitted your ideas (and your case for banning or not banning) I will update this main post with all submitted ideas, and whether they will be banned or not banned.

Here is the list so far:

Powers / Abilities that DON'T work on Super-Heavies / Gargantuan creatures (unless they specifically say they do)

-ANY rules that states to simply remove the model as a casualty or from play with no saves allowed -> this will instead do D3 wounds / structure damage
-ANY rule that repairs a vehicle
-ANY rule that grants a cover save (except for normal cover rules)
-ANY rule that affects a psyker, unless it is a simple Strength hit

Necrons
Mindshackle Scarabs
Entropic Strike - reduces armor on a 6+, not a 4+; does not work on Gargantuans

Chaos
-any Chaos power that does not have a Strength associated with it

Powers / Abilities that DO work on Gargantuans / Super Heavies

Space Marines
Pedro Kantor - Inspiring Presence
Null Zone

Banned Formations

Chaos
Chaos Conclave

Limited Formations

Imperial Guard
Deathstrike Vortex Missile - limited to one per player

Other Limitations

Chaos
Doomsday Device - limited to one per player

Super Heavies Going Critical

When rolling to see if Super Heavies go critical, add the current turn number to the roll. A natural roll of a 1 will always fail, regardless of the turn number.

Allies

Allies are allowed. Desperate Allies will be treated as Allies of Convenience. You can bring up to two allies, but the allies also have to be able to be allies with each other.

Fortifications

No fortifications are allowed unless they are in an Imperial Armour book.

Warlord Traits

There will be no Warlords, so no Warlord Traits, including those in the Chaos Space Marine books.

Outflanking

Due to the nature of the board, Outflanking will count as Flank March instead (i.e. they can come in the opponent's board edge).

Assaulting from Reserves

We will be following the 6th Edition rules which do not allow assaulting from reserves.

What about the rule that says - If the last structure point is removed because of a D strength weapon the player adds +2 to the catastrophic damage table roll ? :P

I just thought it might make things more explosive

@Randolph: I like the first idea.

As for the two rules, what do they do?

@John: Thanks!

doesn't quite fit in to the works, doesn't work catigory but entropic strike should be modified when user on super heavies maybe make it require a 6 to reduce super heavy armor rathr then the usual 4+ or have the 4+ rerolled vs super heavy

That's an interesting one. I agree with you, except that I doubt any scarabs will make it across the table as there will be so many blast and template weapons.

I would say not to nerf anything that is close combat, as Apocalypse can sometimes favour shooting capabilities.

I'll wait for other opinions before I make a ruling on that one.

Thoughts?

The entropic strike on 4+ makes sense, I see it as akin to the 6+ poison vs. gargantuans. I would still leave it as is though because it is not overly beardy. I'm sure somewhere out-there there's a datasheet that grants flank march to scarabs but that would be really cheesy.

The only thing I'm worried about is someone showing up with like 5+ of something like: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Cus ... ex_Missile

or http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Cus ... Squads.pdf

There's no way anyone could live through 5+, 10" vortex templates

Isn't that Lord Commissar a named character? If so, only one could come.

If the Lord Commissar is not a named character, then yes, we'll have to limit that one to one per player.

Would definitely argue that scarabs should be hard pressed to break armor on apoc vehicles.

While there are plenty of blasts no one is going to be using them on the tiny swarm bases and if said bases get into combat with, say, a titan then that is going to cripple a 1000pt+ model.

You could always argue the 6 is because they have so much armor/are so large it takes longer to be successful.

Null Zone - (Space Marine Librarian Psychic Power) - 24" area of effect - Enemy Successful Invulnerable saves must be rerolled

Pedro Kantor - Inspiring Presence - 12" area of effect - Friendly models receive +1 attack during assault - this would mean Titans too!

Imagine a Reaver or Warlord titan charging in. If they have a Titan Close Combat weapon they receive +3 attacks. With Kantor 11" away they receive +1 more attack. All at D strength.

i believe the doomsday formation the lord commisar isnt a named one GW just likes to make it cool buying naming everything ( the titan hammer formation for example each squad has a name)

I agree with Lineam, Scarabs Swarms should not decrase armour values on 4 for apocalypse vehicles

why is the chaos conclave banned exactly? if its the apoc barrage thing maybe you can limit it to one for every 2 named characters? or even just a maximum of 2 barrages?
