I've been tweaking my WE list around, and I've been thinking about running a big unit of Glade Guard (40 of em). The Standard bearer can take a magic banner up to 25pts, and I was gonna have them take the Banner of Eternal Flame. But I also would throw a BSB with the Razor Standard in the unit as well.
Now my question is, do the magic banners cancel each other out? Do I pick one of the two effect? Does the BSB take precedence? I've been going through the rule book, and I can't find anything concrete pointing one way or the other. The closest thing I have is that In the Magic Weapons section it says if a character is wielding more than one magic weapon, he must choose which one he uses. Am I to infer that the same applies to banners?

You'd get the benefits of both Banners.
That said, I'd strongly suggest you don't run that unit. It's going to be the target of all of your opponents units, and the second anything even slightly mediocre at fighting touches them, they're a very, very dead unit. Clanrats would butcher them and Slaves could put on some serious hurt.
Sure, they do a heap of damage with shooting, but it'll take down a unit or two of lesser cost before being cut down in a single turn and then your army will just crumble from there because that unit's like half your points.
MSU is how Wood Elves should be played.

If you run a big block like that itmight be worth considering that horribly expensive item from the wood elf book, the one that gives the unit a 5+ ward save as long as the highborn is with them, they would actually be able to survive a round or 2 of close combat.

Funny you should mention the Rhymers Harp. The unit is actually set up like this
40 Glade Guard -Musician -Standard Bearer -Banner of eternal Flame Spellweaver -Lvl 4 -Rhymer's Harp -Divination Orb Nobel -BSB -Razor Standard -A Blight of Terrors
I had looked it up on the faq and the BSB can take sprites still. So the unit has -5+ Ward -Possible regen/t2+-4+/reviveing -Flaming attacks (shooting and cc) -Armour Penetration (shooting and cc) -Cause Terror
These guys would have some msu around them forming a bubble to prevent charges, but I do see them getting charged eventually. I've been considering throwing in another Nobel with HoDA (Armour Piercing 3d6 shots, yes please), but it would come at the sacrifice of one of my msu that would protect the unit.
That being said this unit is one very large point sink that may or may not do anything. I don't get to play often, but when I do I prefer to play a game I enjoy over playing to win. Things like this just make the game interesting for me. If it doesn't work, we'll have a funny story to tell about an all out stompfest. If it does work, hilarity is bound to ensue. It's almost like when I play my Tau against other Tau. They think there's some sort of unspoken agreement between the players that cc is a no no. That's when they're wrong because I go flamer/mp heavy, and I charge. One guy even jokingly told me I was breaking the rules charging with Tau (and note I refuse to use the mercs, only Tau units).

Problem is though, Razor's Standard doesn't work with shooting as per BRB FAQ V1.6(we are at 1.6a now). It is kinda useless, unless they get stuck in combat. There aren't many useful banners in the wood elf book either, I guess a Standard of discipline on the noble would make them Ld10 Rerollable in combat, but I'm thinking a defensive or assassin kit for the noble would be a better choice.
Shame really that they nerfed the Razor Standard.

Well if they nerfed the Razor Standard, I guess I do have wiggleroom to kit out the noble. Kinda sad to hear that though =\

Also, on the subject of the HoDA, take one. My regular wood elf opponent never leaves home without it. He runs it on his eagle noble, probably due to having the model, but it makes for an effective counter to chaff, warmachines and if your lucky it can even take a couple of wounds off a monster due to sheer volume of shots.

Yeah, just take Asyendi's Bane and you've got your bow for HoDA. And I did forget about the Razor Standard only working in combat too... Although it doesn't need to be FAQ'd because it says in the Rule Book that Armour Piercing only works in combat unless stated otherwise/is on a ranged weapon.
