Hey, I've been playing 40k for a year or so and I thought I might see what fantasy is like, I decided to get Ogres and this is what I have got so far:
Battalion: 6 ogres 6 Ironguts 4 Leadbelchers Butcher/Slaughtermaster (Going to take as SlaughterMaster) and 24 Gnoblars
Any advice for what else I should get and stay away from, the Gnoblars I know are bad but if I end up using them it will be for cannon fodder or so they can charge enemy head on so my ogres/ironguts can flank charge I think it's called (don't know yet just started ) I'm thinking of getting an Ironblaster, some maneaters and another group of Ogres. Also what upgrades should I give my Ogres, Ironguts etc. and what upgrades not to give them

Welcome to the great game that is Fantasy
Things to stay away from in Ogres
1. The Hunter - Worst character joice in the last book, just as bad now. 2. Yehtees - It's not they are bad it's just the fact when you consider the other Special choices like, Leadbelchers, Mournfang Cav and Maneaters they just can't compete. Might see game time if coming up against a VC player with Etheral Units 3. Giant - Again it's not bad, but Thundertusk, Ironblaster and Scraplauncher are all better rare options.
Things to get Bruiser with a BSB. Ogres have average Ld. Most unit's can lose combat and be safe in the knowledge they are Steadfast, Ogres don't have that luxury so losing a combat by 1 or 2pts is massive. Plus failed panic checks could mean a large expensive unit running for the hills and giving up lots of VPs
Ironblaster and Thundertusk. Two best rare choices. Ironblaster is just awesome and the Thundertusk really helps offset the Low I of the Ogres when it's time for Combat.
Apart from that more Bulls and Ironguts.
Gnoblars are slower than Ogres so if you do that it means your Ogres are just going to amble across the board and you will just get shot to pieces.

I'm a huge fan of running two 4 man leadbelcher units on the sides of my main blocks to shoot as the army moves. Gnoblars are best just to tarpit up a unit. Find a spot and push em forward but dont use them to try and grab a unit so your ogres can flank. In general a large enough ogre block can do a great deal of damage. Just try and get the charge so you get the impact hits. Deffinatly get more ironguts and basic bulls. Also some maneaters could be useful too. I havent had a chance to playtest the mournfang yet but they seem pretty good

Ironblaster (don't have a ironblaster yet but I am going to get one soon)
All up that should be 1000 points exactly Edit: I wouldn't know about that cause like the title says I only just started fantasy and I haven't really looked at the rulebook yet

try and get a bellower in the leadbelcher unit. He can allow for you to attmept swift reforms to turn move and fire if possible. Not always needed but sometimes ya could use to turn and move and not spend most of your move wheeling.
