Curse of Undeath lore attribute

Post by Khazahd » Mon Jan 04, 2016 12:15 am

Referring to the rules of a vampire count army using the lore of Vampires in the 8th edition, My question is whether or not the curse of undeath (which results in the wizard or a model within 12 inches recovering a single wound per spell casting (they occur separately) would allow a unit of only one wound, at the maximum, to regain said single wound and get back into the game. I think that it would, because the unit is made of models, and if you had a unit of five dire wolves and two were lost, then (if this lore attribute was activated) one wound could be regained by one model and you would retrieve one wolf. Making a unit of 4, rather then the previous three. If so it could prove quite productive.

Quickly reading through the attribute, it specifies a model that has lost a wound, as in your example, the Dire Wolf is dead and not on the battlefield, it cannot restore a wound. If it said "another friendly unit", then yes, you could use it to restore dead zombies, skeletons, and what not.

If say, a unit of Vargheists were within 12" with one short let's say 2 wounds, and you cast a Lore of Vampires spell, it would restore the wound lost by the Vargheist, as it is a legal target for the attribute.

Also, if you're playing VC or Undead Legion with focus on Vampires, you're running a large number of necromancers and vampires with Invocation of Nehek, so you have that part covered. (Seriously, take Invocation with every single Lore of Vampires caster you can, the more opportunities you have to cast it, the better).
Armies:
Lizardmen: 3200 points
Vampire Counts: 2500 points
Skaven: 2200 points

Amount painted by army:
Lizardmen: 97%
Vampire Counts: 92%
Skaven: 87%

Thank you, I forgot to add the invocation.
