Starting WF orcs and goblins 500 points

Hey Miniwargaming community,
im starting warhammer Fantasy with 2 friends. Our first goal is to get a 500 points army running. I chose to play orcs and goblins.
It would be nice to get some advice about the 500 points armylist i try to create for my first battle.
Here is the list:

Orc Shaman - 120
upgrade savageorc
Lucky Shrunken Head

20 Savage orcs - 215
additional choppas
full command

12 orc arrer boyz - 94
Standardbearer

2 Trolls - 70

499 points

My enemies will be Darkelves and Vampirecounts. What do you think about the armylist?

I'd consider replacing the trolls with Spear Chukkas, until you get higher points and can have a Bigboss escort them for the higher LD, honestly.

Hello Matjap! And Welcome to the awesome world of Warhammer Fantasy!

I am going to agree with Coldsteel here, he has more experience then me, with your Trolls you generally want units of 6+ to take advantage of them, at this point level they will get axed in one turn of Combat, taking a Spear Chukka is a great idea, and if your lucky you can turn 1 shish kebab your mates Vampire :P

Here is a rough things I would say would work at this point level, This is what I would recommend,

Heroes - 120 Points

Savage Orc Shaman - Luycky Shrunken Head, Level 1, Lore of Da Big Waaagh!

Core - 345 points

30 Night Goblins - Short Bows

Savage Orc Big 'Uns - Full Command, Big Stabbas

Special - 35 Points

Goblin Spear Chukka

Current and only army: High Elves
- 6000 Points worth of models
- 2000 of 6000 Points painted
- 1850 of 4000 Points in progress

Yeah, the Night Goblins are a better idea than the Arrer Boys, unless you already have the 12 Arrer Boys. More dice = more wounds.

Yea, and the increased stats for the Ork Arrer Boyz will not make any significant effect on the game. Anyway, if your archers get themselves engaged in close combat, they are going to die sooner rather than later. Night goblins or regular goblins are better archers.

I think i will change my army list in the way you recommended. I´m going to tell you how much success i had with the list and how the battles went for me, but it will probablly take a while until we fight or first match.

The only issue with the NG over Arrer Boys is loss of range. 8" can be deadly, especially against a Dark Elf player spamming repeater X-bows or a Vamp Count player Danse-ing across the table.

Yea, but they are so cheap :) . I think O&G archery is only meant to do a few wounds to soften the opposition and probably draw fire from your more important units. They can be sacrified in other words. But if you really want to build a strategy around orcish archery, Orcs are of higher quality yes.

Also, the Orc Arrer Boys still come with a Choppa, so they can still be semi-viable in HTH.
