Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

If a book has a spelling error in it, or an adjustment needs to be made on one page, the entire book still needs to be republished. If an adjustment needs to be made they can just publish a free PDF of that one page, or include the new points in 'Chapter Approved' each year which is coming back. Li...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

Doesn't really help keeps things fluffy as gw was claiming this edition was going to push more towards, though. I would have preferred it requiring separate detachments because it would be awkward to have a space wolf be led by Dark Angels commander. Sounds like it'll open the door to some cheese b...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

I think the reason for the points not being included with units is much simpler; they can adjust the points cost of weapons without having to republish all of the data sheets. Similarly they can change the points per model of units without changing the data sheets.

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

Was just in my local store, the rulebook is gorgeous- more reasonably priced that previous editions but really nice hardback, high quality, loads of art and fluff- great book. Also the new Death Guard models are really rather stunning in person when well painted, absolutely brilliant. Primaris model...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

But for now you have awesome scenarios for narrative play, awesome fluffy rules for battle zones and terrain... and your army just feels totally generic with no customisation options to reflect the fluff. Its disappointing. My feeling is the game just took a massive step forwards but my faction too...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

It's easy to say that when you could play with your chapter tactics for years and had the time to enjoy it while it lasted. Chaos only started getting back in december for TS, about February for the rest of the CSM and had only a few months to have it at last. We waited for that since 2005 I think....

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/05/23/forge-world-and-the-new-warhammer-40000/ So much for all FW rules being available at launch... Looks like standard IA Books too, can't see these being cheap. Gahhhh- I'll have to shell out to use my Contemptors in a 40k Chaos Army... I could always jus...

Re: 8th edition changes to combi and twin-linked weapons

I totally agree with you Combi-weapons are very good but just taking Combi-meltas as an example, I think that meltas have been nerfed so its fair that you now get to shoot them every turn rather than just once. It's not as big an upgrade as it seems at first glance. Lascannons now look better than m...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

Trying to predict if my army will be viable or not for 8th. I'm using 2x Betrayal at Calth box worth to represent 40k Alpha Legion, which I got for a cheap way to get into Heresy and get the core of a large army for comparatively good value. It's extremely heavy on normal marines and short on fancy t...

Re: Official announcement: New 40k is coming.

My initial thoughts: Solid answer to Deathstars, just make them so that they kinda don't exist anymore. Secondary thoughts: people will still be able to crowd a bunch of characters next to a unit and treat it like a deathstar, their opponent just has more options to deal with it now (such as maneuv...

Re: The Crimson King

Yes, I agree in that photo the proportions look a little off. But on a more positive note I think that they have done a great job of making parts of the model consistent with his later appearance in 40k as a Daemon Primarch while maintaining their own take on the character.

Re: Custom legion

You might want to look at the Blackshields rules in HH6 for some inspiration. They are quite balanced rules, although less powerful than their legion brethren. They have more downsides such as gaining +1 strength and toughness but they also have -1 Initiative, -1 to run and charge moves and can't sw...

Re: Iron Warriors - 67th Grand Battalion!

the Infantry are being placed in Rhinos (from what I understand, the Damocles Rhino is the standard Rhino in HH). The Deimos Pattern Rhino is the standard Rhino, the Damocles is an HQ choice that gives bonuses to deep striking and reserve rolls as well as giving access to an orbital bombardment. Da...
