Re: May Deathmatch Challenges - Marine Madness!

General Kroll, do you mind if we save characters for next month? I already have a plate full, and about to hit major work stress next week. After this weekend, if I feel I can handle it I may throw a character challenge out too.

Re: Guardians of the Covenant

For my return to the Painting challenges, we start with a Rhino-sized tank and a five-marine squad. Nothing fancy yet with the Rhino. I paint these on the sprue as opposed to building first. They are super-easy to do this way as most edges will be joints and you won't see the clippings. I will do to...

Guardians of the Covenant

I am building a Dark Angels successor chapter, the Guardians of the Covenant.

For the curious, this is my son and I on the way to the 30th Anniversary Space Marine event.

Re: MWG's Weekly Painting Pledge 5/7-5/14

I pledge to work on my 5-marine squad, my dreadnought and a rhino. For the rhino I will be painting it on the sprue, and Inexpect that to be primed, with a good amount of base coating in. I DO paint the interior, to include magnets, so I will be taking time and enjoying doing the detail work. I expe...

Re: 2016 Weekly Paint

I loved the scheme, but on top of it, the colors are brilliant. Red, silver, black? Adeptus Mechanicus allies. Black, red, silver? Sororitas allies. It's an easy way to have a unifying color triad amongst the force. So, 2x land raiders, 3x predators, razorback, and rhino, with reinforced armor bits,...

2016 Weekly Paint

Well. 2015 ended on a rough note that carried into 2016. I will cap out the rest of the year with a massive workload; way more than I can handle. First up will be me returning to WH40K in a pretty big way, with a Guardians of the Covenant (Dark Angels successor chapter) force, starting with a Gettin...

Re: Age of Sigmar year end thoughts

To say AoS has no back story is silly. Thats like saying Italy has no history because the Roman empire is gone. The back story is still there and it didnt get ret conned. The time line was advanced and Chaos won. A new world was then formed. People saying it doesnt have depth are people conplaining...

Re: Age of Sigmar year end thoughts

As a game, AoS is just fine. Its chess-like "simplicity in the rules/complexity in the synergies of your pieces" ended up being a lot more satisfying than I thought it would be. What needs to be improved is ... a reason to actually play the game. Game engines are a dime a dozen; GW alone has given u...

Re: New Project: Age of Sigmar Escalation League

For some reason it just felt 'right'. Got a lot of work done today. The altar is 'finished for priming'. The other pieces will be built, painted then glued. Building is the hardest part for me. Machines and monsters are just fine; those individual troops make me want to gouge my eyes out. A friend c...

New Project: Age of Sigmar Escalation League

I'm going to be honest with you; I'm having a hard time getting motivated by Age of Sigmar. Basically, I'm having a hard time 'finding me'. Don't get me wrong; I love where the game is at, and I've been very pleased with what I've seen in the war scrolls. I think they've done a decent job of capturi...

Re: Fixing Age of Sigmar: Points using Spreadsheet

Todda, Totally agreed. Even then I avoid the wounds issue. As you pointed out, 40 wounds of Slaves doesn't equate to 40 wounds of just about anything else. The ONLY advantage I've found for slaves so far is to act as short-lived tar pits, pinning down units while other units maneuver into position. ...

Re: a newb with new questions.

Greatness ... 1) My understanding is that you must have the war scroll in play in order to have the associated summoning spell in play. Any other interpretation would open up all of us being able to claim synergies for units not in play. Understand that there ARE summons that break this concept; see...
