Re: Starting Hordes Question

Just to clarify, you don't have to use the starter sets if you don't want to. While they are, by far, the cheapest way to get into WM/H, they aren't mandatory* You could simply browse through the faction books and build something from those with the models you enjoy the most. I'd advise to talk with...

Re: Starting a Khador Army

You don't really need to buy any, except for the main rulebook. All others are purely optional, although they provide some awesome fluff and the possibility to proxy alot of new stuff

Warmachine - Wrath <-- Battle Engines
Warmachine - Colossals <-- Colossals (duh)

Re: New Player Debating which warcaster to try first

From a fluff point of view, I like the Cryx theme forces of Terminus and Venethrax alot. Terminus' "The Ghost Fleet" makes for a nice looking, ghost pirate list. What's more to say? Pirates, Dragons, Ghosts, it doesn't get much better than this :p "The Dragon Slayers" tier list of Venethrax also mak...

Re: Starting a Khador Army

What is it you see as the lists strengths and weaknesses since that probably will be a tad bit more convincing :P thanks for the time :) His tier list is not completely garbage and can be worthwile. For the most part tho, I think the tradeoffs aren't really worth it. You just skip upon so much mele...

Re: Starting a Khador Army

I'll try to keep my responses short and spare everyone a wall of text (//addit: Well, so much for not producing a wall of text... Anyway, I you still have question, just go ahead!) The starter set Sorsha, also called pSorsha or Sorsha1, can still be viable, although she doesn't get played that much....

Re: Are achievements ruining the league?

Why not doing a League where the best player wins, and every game is a tough one, where you see the true potential of each and every model instead of butcher feating to kill one of his model to gain an achievement that no one cares about. Nobody learns anything from that move. And I think what keep...

Re: Not the blightwasps!

Yikes...

While I really like the concept of those wasps, their wings look like they belong to some fairy tinkerbell instead of a blighted dragonspawn

Re: Alternative Battle boxes.

I did not know that. My apologies. He's talking about the "battlegroup box set equivalents" from the journeyman league ruleset , page 3-4 :) Personally, I'd like to see a (min) unit of infantry as part of the sets which replaces 1-2 of the war<noun> currently included. Preferably ones that go nice ...

Re: Another Shot at Warmachine

Well if you're not into "curb stomping", go for whatever you like :p I'm a fan of menoth heavy infantry, but the regular ones aren't bad either. Temple Flame Guard would fit nicely with Feora too. Adding the Paladin solo, forgot the name, seems like a good choice too

Re: Starting Legion

Well Shredders can be both, depends alot on the matchup tho. Most people will take one for the animus alone, but IMO every legion player has to play the Shredder spam at least once in his/her dragonblight career :D

Never said he wasn't good, but 11 pts for a single beast in a 15 pts match is too expensive imo

Re: Starting Legion

There are several options, all with their own pros and cons. The obvious solution would be some 2 point solo(s), like Forsaken, Shepherds, Strider Deathstalker and the like. Forsaken and Shepherd help a great deal with fury management (Shepherds even extend your threatrange somewhat), while a Deaths...

Re: New to Wamachine- had some modeling questions!

Is there a general consensus on proxies? One model to represent another (either by pp, or by another party) There are some official rules covering proxies, but you'll rarely have to use those outside of hardcore tournaments. As long as your opponent is fine with it, you shouldn't run into problems....

Re: How did you get into WarmaHordes

Switched gaming stores back when I was still playing 40k. The new store had some WM/H players, eventually asked the owner for a demo game and been playing it ever since.
