The strangleweb would be a must-have weapon, if it worked slightly different. Don't make it wound at all, just have every hit model make a Strength test, and then have them pinned, or concussed or something. How it works now is simply a mess, and only ever to be taken against IG armies without tanks...

I'd go with the gargoyles. Not only do they look a whole lot better, with the codex as of now they are actually usefull. That might change with a new Codex, especially if the torrent-rule rumors are true, but even then I'd be shocked if a Pyrovore was Tyranids best answer to hordes.

I think he meant even if it's that psykers last wound (i.e. he takes a wound and dies)

With average rolling, your going to spawn 30 Gaunts in the first round alone, you'll be running out of gaunts real quick this way.

3 Zoanthropes (pop tanks)
popping a Monolith with a 4 and a 6 (+6 - Monolith go boom). few moments are that satisfying, especially if you've been shooting at a Ghost-Arc to no avail (seriously, 3 Hive Guard, needing 5 for glance, how hard can it be?).

Absolutely, it's one of the few battleboxes where you can use everything in it in a 1000-1500pts list. Add a Command Barge (use as Annihilation Barge + Overlord) and you actually have a legal army that can win games.
