Re: GB 64: Something New

I can't think of anything that screams "new". Everything can be called new, even a ruined building could have been "freshly bombed", but I wouldn't know how to show it. Can anyone give me some inspiration? a fresh bombing could have fire/puffs of smoke on the terrain? I've seen people do beautiful ...

This might inspire you. You could try and downscale it and go about it the same way:

Re: Terrain supplies in the US?

Ah, no experience with Germany here. You should make a post asking germans for advice :p
Or start packing your supplies :-)

Re: Terrain supplies in the US?

Thanks guys, lots of store names I've never heard about. I'll do some research over the week end to come up with a shopping list :)

Nappen where are you off to in Europe?

Terrain supplies in the US?

Hey, I'd really love to build things while in the US after I built some things back home, but was kind of on the fence because of the investment in materials (as it feels like I'm buying everything twice, for the US and back home). Does anyone have any good places I could go buy things? (like stores...

Re: wargame boards made from recycled cardboard sheets

I like the board! reminds me of how an elevation map would look like. Something I've seen people use in architecture projects. Did you think of sanding the edges for a slightly smoother look so you can tilt the piece as they move on the terrain? On the warping subject, another method is to put a lay...

Re: Homemade trees

You can definitely spray paint the examples Akylos posted. It's just cut broom pieces and metal wire. To be honest to make trees your best bet is making an armature (much like what Lionic wrote) and use clay that you can bake. That way you can still sculpt the clay for the texture you want. It would...

Re: Terrain on the cheap

Hmm interesting. I heard people using a strainer to melt the glue. I'll try to get my hands on other brands of foamboard though. I was lucky to get my hands on thin foam without the cardboard layers before too. I'm really impressed with your Dark elf structure. You used a cardboard tube as the main ...

Re: Terrain on the cheap

Very awesome looking terrain! I tried to use the foamboard before, but stripping the cardboard layer was always a really hard thing to do. Any tips?
I see you also carve your wood with foam/poly. You just make a mark with an xacto knive and go over it with a pencil?

Vampire count-ish castle

While the original is Warcraft inspired, this could prob work for Vampire counts (or a self made variation of some sort). Final: http://i.imgur.com/H8joT7u.jpg album with process: http://i.imgur.com/a/8Jboc From the feedback I got last time I thought I'd give an explanation of the final result. All ...

Iron Horde mailbox

Hey, I haven't been here in forever, but I've had the chance to travel back to my place for a few days and make something. It's not exactly terrain, but maybe some might give advice for future projects. Reference: http://i.imgur.com/qvUyzPo.jpg Final: http://i.imgur.com/5eZoTtE.jpg I painted it grey...

Re: GB 46: Nappen's One-Hour-Desert-Tower (complete)

I went out to the garage, saw lots of scraps that I doubt will go with me on my move, and the packers are coming next week. I have very little time with the move prep, but want to do something...So, I decided to try and keep my losing streak alive! Quite nice, but I think it's really generic. As yo...
