Re: Dark Potential Beta Rules! (0.1.1)

Akimbo, I think you may have misread this a bit - the new cover system, while I'm still not sold on it either, does not require any additional rolls. He's simply moved the existing cover penalties from applying to the model's defense to applying to their armour. In some respects this does make sense...

Re: Dark Potential Beta Rules! (0.1.1)

Since the min/max squad size is no longer a universal 3/6, the description under Points needs to change on page 9 I think the decision to cut the Dark Matter Powered section, while potentially a little disappointing, is ultimately a good decision. I don't like the stubby “hanging text” on p 10 – sla...

Re: Holiday Scenario

The one thing I would say is that in this game, "turn" is very precisely defined (thank goodness) - it's specifically a sub-element of a "round" where one "round" is made up of a "turn" for each player. I would assume that in a Multi-Player game, either the players would be bunched up into sides and...

Re: Holiday Scenario

Do you know what I forgot? I forgot the third special rule of the scenario. Parachute Drop : The presents are dropped in attached to brightly colored parachutes which waft them gently down towards the ground. When a Present marker has been generated and after it has been scattered, if the marker is ...

Re: Holiday Scenario

Hey, comment and criticism are definitely welcome. I considered a wording like that but I am not really pleased with the "opposing" language that I tried out because I feel like it had the same problem that your suggestion does: the "opposing force" language is not really as clear as I'd like it to ...

Holiday Scenario

This is by no means tested but I thought it would be nice to have a holiday scenario for people to play in the spirit of the season, especially now that those who live in the area have got their figures already. Holiday Scenario: Making Spirits Bright In this festive scenario, both sides have gather...

Re: Rule Clarification and Suggestions

I think with the spray weapons thing, as it's a relatively new addition to the rule set - good catch! I think that the idea is that there is no "fully/partially under" consideration in Dark Potential. Touching or touched by counts as interacting with a template for game purposes. I do not know if mo...

Re: The painted models are here!

That is really pretty fantastic. I cannot wait to see more, especially of the PMC, as I've not seen anything of them yet.

Re: Quick question

Last time I thought I knew anything about them, which was a while back, the Bioformed were supposed to be alien-earth animal hybrids created by the X'Lanthos as part of their normal occupation procedure of human occupied planets. At some point they got loose from X'Lanthos control, probably because ...

Re: Favourite Army

I have to say, now that I've seen the sculpts with paint on I think my previous opinion still holds true but I like the X'Lanthos a little bit better than I thought they would do and I will be very pleased to try my own paint scheme.

Re: History of the Petrov-Morales Corporation - want your in

I think Packetboy has a good concept there - I think having some cut-off expeditions who do manage to reach a cache but cannot get back would be a great way to give players a chance to create their own subfactions of the PMC.

Re: History of the Petrov-Morales Corporation - want your in

I think this is a very interesting setup. However, I think it's central issue is that the history is lacking in two very specific dimensions that rob it of richness and authenticity. The first problem I see is that a lot of the details don't work when combined with other details. This is in part bec...

Re: Reclaimers questions

I think on the Targeting question you're confusing "damage" with "hit" - as long as you generate one or more hits with the Margin of Success of the attack roll, the targeting scanner has hit its target.

Favourite Army

I figured that since Matt wanted to know I'd start a forum topic where we could all chime in with some good, solid, qualitative data. Wait... Ignoring that. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA8OEKpB9Lc The question: since sales data is not likely to be conclusive at the moment, what ...
