Re: Which Scrapling Design Do You Like The Most?

I love E the best for the diminuitive - almost adorable - line trooper/scrap collector feel. It looks like it could fit in well as a hashed together swarm bot archetype. A lot of people like D, and while I admit the design is attractive I don't see it being a cheap and easily replicatable chassis, n...

Re: DP needs to be card based...

Yeah thanks for the clarification Matt! I would say the primary (or at least what has evolved into the primary) point still holds a lot of water considering what has been said previously. The idea of tracking wounds, CP, status effects, resources, etc. can all be done with colored beads or tokens wh...

Re: Reclaimers before Salvagers?

I did vote for Salvagers but, as has been said, I would rather they are done well and meet their potential rather than rushed out and potentially damaging the game. Also, as I work my way through Dark Acoustics, the reclaimers are appealing more to me each time (Damn you Xefa01!!!!) :D Cheers, Jim ...

Re: DP needs to be card based...

That's fine, maybe this is belligerence or something but to me that doesn't mean there is no chance of cards. A lot of the content of this thread has been from the perspective of not wanting to use cards for tracking but more for quick reference to statistics. Has there been a definite no on that fr...

Re: DP needs to be card based...

No, all arguments (both for and against) are valid for this. The whole point of this mechanics discussion and playtesting feedback environment where forum posts can be created to put forth ideas, requests, desired changes, etc. is because my ideas and your ideas ARE valid. Yes, in the end it's Matth...

Re: DP needs to be card based...

@Akimbo, What about players who like cards? I feel like I keep saying this, nobody is arguing that if cards are implemented they should be required to be used, I'm not pushing for "stat cards" or "tracking cards" to be compulsory to the game. It would simply be for people who prefer that style of or...

Thanks ShalinorOz, I completely missed adding that link to this one.

BTW for anyone randomly reading this, the Dark Acoustics saga will be continuing soon....

Re: DP needs to be card based...

After watching playtest 7 I believe in the concept of cards even more. Dan mentions at one point that a unit (the Recruiter I believe) has a lot of stuff around it - not necessarily implying that it's bad, just noticing it - and Matt says he likes it. Even though this seems like it's a counter argum...

Re: DP needs to be card based...

Agreed, this post isn't really here to break the developing rule set. It's just a discussion on the merits of adding cards to the game. On that note, as the thread is getting a bit longer, for those that want to vote but don't want to read the full discussion, it seems like these are the main conclu...

Re: Fleeing and "Broken" units

I think we need to keep commanders the same, the dynamic I think is spot on.

That said, I'm not sure how this relates to broken units beyond CP spamming. Maybe this is a discussion for another thread?

Re: Fleeing and "Broken" units

Here's my concern: No modified MR Can still use CP from Comm. to adjust Can use Comm. MR when in range On top of all that, you can still move into cover or out of LoS, shoot, melee, and do basic things while broken. Is this fine? Sure, if the goal of breaking is to be more of a side concern then a l...

Re: Fleeing and "Broken" units

Absolutely, I do want to express that I like the original idea of being broken and Matthew's take on it. The loss of points and the ability to use other CP is pretty elegant coupled with the modifiers. My only main concern about allowing movement is the potential for it to end up like suppression fi...

Re: Fleeing and "Broken" units

I think you've posed in interesting point Roscoe. The issue (I believe) we're getting hung up on is the difference between "retreating" and "fleeing". No, I stand firm in what I said earlier that it is very rare (in most situations) to see a guy "flee" like they do in tabletop games and in medieval ...
