Re: Tether - undertones of Dark Potential

No matter how the bandits end up being made then their type of goverment will almost certainly always reduce to feudalism most likely with a caste system attached. The main reason for this is that studies show that after any period of anarchy then people tend to group together under someone who can ...

Re: Technical Terminology and YOU!

While I agree on the point you are making then in practice it will always be a problem. No matter how many reviews you do of a book of this type there will always be some conceptual errors with words that can mean more then one thing. This is because the reviewer will most likely know what you mean ...

Re: Science and Setting

Just came to think of something about the virus. In short in order for the story about earth largely undamaged at the time of attack, then this would mean the X´lanthos have not had a chance to attack it, which again means that Humans would have a reliable way to detect their ships and respond accor...

Re: Overwatch for squads instead of suppression fire

While the idea of suppression fire and overwatch are cool features on paper (in their current form), then they require loads of terrain to function. My suggestion is the following. Suppression fire is something that can be done by select squads with certain types of weapons... like slow shooting gun...

Re: Should we make the Reclaimer Starter Set?

After some thought I decided on the expand the existing races first... While more races are cool then I think it would be a better use of money to focus on perfecting the basic framework of the game first before further expansion. Also making sure that one race is "finished" would help to prevent th...

Re: Animal Faction Discussion

While I like vanishing´s post a lot then it still needs the motivational factor... Why do the animals care about these areas, and perhaps more vitally... why would the non infected care about them? It is a bit too convenient to just say the animals tend to hoard around ... hoards of dark matter stuf...

Re: It's time to nail down Dark Matter

We do not just require controllable negative energy... It is true that it is the most vital aspect however! So any model that produces this is good a long way down the line. We do however also need a reasonable way to store the particles so they can in fact be used readily by military powers. Which ...

Re: Animal Faction Discussion

What I gather from reading all of this is that essentially there is a fundamental disagreement on what role the animal faction should play in the game! I still think the best idea would be to save the animal faction for last when all the other factions have been created and then look at it again. Th...

Okay I do honestly not know if I should be flattered, just laugh or what! I guess a thank you is in order! I am glad that you like it! I do feel that you should go read the "time to nail down dark matter" thread since there are a lot of nice contributers in there as well who have really helped creat...

Re: Animal Faction Discussion

The way I see it is then the foundations would be something down these lines A: Hivemind basis (Something controls everything) B: Primitive humanoid basis/ pack mentality (You have basic intelligence but it is still mainly instinct that rules) C: Virus basis (The urge to spread and multiply the viru...

Re: Serious Blow to Dark Matter Theories?

It is more or less business as usual sadly. It is also the part of the reason for skepticism to the whole idea to begin with. The main observational facts come when you look at very large structures, and then it "vanishes" when you get down to look at individual stars. This is also what have prompte...

Re: Animal Faction Discussion

actually an animal with added photosynthesis would be a possible variant..... I don't like the idea of giant killer plant (like the fly catchers etc) but animals or even humanoid creatures with plant properties like photosynthesis could make for interesting fluff.

Re: Weaponry in Dark Potential

It seems like the entire party has moved into this thread. Well in relation to these few final posts I did post a method for dark fusion that actually will make everything talked about in here possible. (There is dark current, there is basically everything that was requested so far!) Also made a rea...

Re: It's time to nail down Dark Matter

Okay since I can see in the weapons thread that dark fusion is going to be a requirement for the setting. Then I just thought I would add up how that would work in this new setting. Since I truely enough said that dark particle enrichment at high temperatures is a no go. Then all hope is not lost. T...

Re: Weaponry in Dark Potential

I am still hooked on crystal weapons for the X´lanthos. I also think it fits nicely with the request they they should be bio oriented, since crystals are just more natural as a weapon then a gun firing bullets etc. You can have all sorts of effects projected from them as well, and create cloaking ef...
